How far in advance of NOA2 have most people been getting their police clearance certificates ready?

Does anyone know if NVC or consulates care if their police certificate happens to be a few months older than the NOA2 date? Because for me to get it it's a bit of a drama that takes some time so I want to get it now even though NOA2 might be 2-3 months away still.

thanks

Most police certifications are valid for 1 year (some 6 months) - however, most folks will wait until either their petition is approved (or close to that expected date) to obtain the report/certification.

All depends on which country(ies) you're getting one from - and how it typically takes to get one. You don't want to get one too early, nor wait too long to get one (a kind of rule of thumb, if getting one for a country no longer living in, you can get this early - if still in the country, try to get one as close to the possible interview date as possible. No hard/fast rule though.)
