I have spent most of the last 18 months with my SO and will now be leaving him again to finish our K-1 Visa... We are not looking forward to being apart from each other and we are curious to see how the rest of the VJers deal with the difficulty of being apart and how you maintain your connection to each other and satisfy your needs...

For the first 18 months of our relationship we were very creative in keeping in touch and keeping the fire going between us and ensuring that our needs were met sexually... but starting all over again will be difficult... :crying:

Please feel free to comment on how you stay connected if its not one of the mulitple choice answers... Look forward to hearing some good ideas!

We sent "scented" clothing to each other, and IM/Webcam can get pretty heated.

Can anyone tell me whats the difference between skype or yahoo messenger is? Aren't they all are free anyways?

Back to the topic. I think I have mastered the art of writing erotic writing :P 5 years of long distance relationship had some of its plus points ;)

Husband isn't much of a phone person, he hates talking on the phone, so well it was mostly chatting everyday. We also used to send each other postal love letters. I was surprised to find all my letters when I got here, didn't expect him to save them all.

Everytime before posting the letters, I would spray the perfume I am using and would have red lips kisses all over the letter..........yes its tacky as hell, but it was kind of amusing for both of us.

I think it is very important for both of you to include each other with everything that is going on in your life. At least one of you has to be the more talkative one, sure there will be days when you both just can't stop talking and there will be days when it will be all blank, you just have to make it through both good and bad days.

I hope everything goes smooth for you guys (F)

Last time I even ATTEMPTED to use Yahoo messenger we were very disappointed. I can't quite remember exactly how it was but all I know is Skype has the clearest audio and video that we have used yet.

yahoo is very disapointing after u get used with skype. when my husband's work banned yahoo, we tried just any available internet comunication way. easy to settle with skype. big window real time video, good sound, can work in settings to make yr skype automaticly answer the call and open video for a specific person in yr list of friends.

when one of us isnt in time for the cyber date coffee time, the other one can call on skype and the cam will open automatic. so i can wake up my husband when he oversleeps with real yellings. helps him keep the job. also kept an eye on his new kitten while he was gone thx to these features.

accidentay used yahoo from airport comps or such, and was disapointing after being used with skype. yahoo was good in the supercam mode days, but is long gone. didn't happen to us in more than 2 years now.
