She is going to apply for the passport this week. What happend was that we used her maiden name in our i-130 forms and now she wants to change her last name with my first name and that is going to be her married name. I hope now you get what I am asking here!!! Thank you

This was similar case to mine, but while applying for I-130 I already decided to change her last name to mine.. and they they applied for passport.. and this time it would be good idea to call NVC and consult.. that is there a procedure for change of name...

This is one of the reasons I've decided not to change my family name to my married name till my husband gets here. I didn't want to complicate the process even more.

What I know about this process is, the embassy will issue the visa based on the name on the passport.

BTW, to those who are sending their AOS and IV packages, don't forget to write down your NVC case number and beneficiary's name (or print them on labels) on every single document you submit to NVC. I put printed labels on my documents.

Have a great weekend guys!!

Congrats, kevinbui on finally getting your case number! now the fun part begins...

Driade, your husband doesn't NEED the tax transcripts. he can also just send a photocopy of his returns along with the corresponding W2's, 1099's, and Schedules. It is definitely less work to use the the transcripts, but if you don't feel like waiting the extra two weeks... it might be worth it to gather all that together instead of contacting the IRS. The choice is yours.

Sombercat, I thought that the shortcut was a bit misleading as well. I think the only major thing you have to do to fly through NVC is get all the supporting documents and evidence in order while you are waiting for your case number. But, we aren't finished yet... so who knows.

As for the DS3032, we decided just to send a copy in the mail. They recieved it on April 10th and accepted it on April 14. That is two business days, so in our case, I don't think e-mailing it would have been any faster.

Carlish, NVC should have gotten our AOS package this morning. I called to speak to a representative earlier tonight, and she said that it may be in the building... but hasn't been scanned in yet. I got delivery confirmation from FedEx... so I know it is there somewhere!

I also sent the IV (DS230) package tonight with Priority Overnight... so they should get it by 10:30 tomorrow morning. I guess now all we can do is wait. :clock:

Still no news with the expedite... it obviously wouldn't help much now at NVC, but it could still get us an earlier interview date in Italy. We are trying to stay optimistic! :star:

Chrissy e Ben - just curious, can you get an interview date in Italy pretty fast? I was just thinking about your pregnancy and looking at the calendar and wondering if you have a shot at making it. I know Canada (Montreal) is backed up and it takes 2-3 months, but is it safe to assume Italy is much faster?

Honestly, I am not sure. I have heard of people who got an expedite for Naples and their interview was scheduled two days after the consulate received their case. I also heard of a couple that got an interview scheduled (without an expedite) and they just called and requested an earlier date... and the consulate gave them one for the same month, just one or two weeks later.

So, who knows? But, I definitely think it is not as busy as the Montreal consulate. I don't think there are many cases there, so I think it is safe to assume that things progress faster. That is just a guess though...

and that is also why I decided not to change my name until my husband gets here... all I know is that this whole process is confusing enough... and I did not want to make it any worse by changing my name right now.

and I also forgot to write our names and case number on our papers for the AOS and IV packets. I hope it doesn't make us get an RFE... oh well, nothing we can do about it now!
