I think SomberCat had it right - they hold them for a few days before mailing cause I got my NOA1 just two days after the date of the letter but it took my NOA2 six days. It's still the same distance there is no other reason for the extra four days other than they held onto it.

My husband called USCIS on Friday, after I was crying for an hour that other I-130's have been approved for such a short period and people who filed after us already got their NOA2's. After my husband asked them if they were approving the cases in the order they were received, the USCIS rep told my husband that this is not correct - every case is different and what could take for some people 10 days could take for others 10 months!!! I guess the problem with our case is that they're probably doing a longer background check on me - I was living in the States for the last 3 years but I have never overstayed my visa...

Anyway, I still have a big hope we'll get our NOA2 very soon, at least I'm happy that my hunny is coming back to visit me and my family for 2 weeks  - his first Bulgarian Easter, yey :)

I persoanlly don't think that some cases take 10 days and other 10 months. It's a lie. The main reason Mumtaz got approved is because the case was at CSC. I think they just don't care and they r just approving people. Who will justify people at CSC who are still waiting from Nov, Dec and they r from Europe. They just do not have any pattern and ethics. It is very unfair and I feel for you because my case was supposed to go to VSC. Anyway, Good luck to you and to all others still waiting!!!!!!!

Hi Rehan,

Am I lying or the USCIS rep lied?

I'm just posting what my husband has been told on the phone last Friday. That's all!

Taj'samericanwife, don't worry too much, I believe you'll get your NOA2 in less than 50 days, no matter you are in VSC... Cross my fingers for you girl

Just a wondering - do y'all think presentation of documents has ANY bearing on how quickly approvals go through? The reason I ask is because I don't know how everyone else did their packets but I do know how mine was done and I did my very best to make it IDIOT proof and I was shocked when I got my approval last week.

Here's how my packet was presented:

First there was the check

Then my cover letter outlining everything that was included in the packet, with each section of the letter numbered and color coded

Then the I-130 directions color coded to match the cover letter sections

Then each item listed in the letter seperated by tabbed dividers each numbered and color coded to match the letter and the directions

I binder clipped it all together

All of this was enclosed in a tie string folder so nothing could be lost

All my documents were color copies of originals (unless the original was needed) and all color copies were certified by a notary to be exact duplicates of originals that were in my possession.

Oh nice.

Well in that case mine was a mess so listing it:

-Cover letter listing all items

-Items in same order were at the letter

-Every items and proof translated from Spanish to English.

Everything was regular copies and only originals of forms they ask for, and only prooff attached were 4 bona fide affidavit all of them notariazed; one mine; another from my husband; one from my dad; and last one from a friend was witness of my civil marriage since am saving all other proof for my interview so hope it was engouh, since we are almost 2 years married and we were living together in Bolivia for 8 months. not sure if is enough but we will see.

Good luck for all hope everyone.
