I'm 39 also. I'm the publications manager for an automotive aftermarket company. That means if you go to NAPA, CARQUEST, AutoZone, etc. and they look up the part you need for your car, my group made the publication they're looking in.

Hey Guys,

My wife's middle initial was missing from the NOA I recieved. Her middle initial is listed on the I-130 application that I mailed in.

I just got off the phone with USCIS rep and lady took my information down but she couldn't tell me if the system in fact had her middle name listed or not. She told me that I'll be contacted with in 45 days.

Is this going to cause any delay in my case? :(

Mine is the same way. My husband's middle initial is listed, but mine isn't. I'm not worried.

You shouldn't worry too much. The same thing happened to me. I was tempted to call USCIS, but I was advised not to do so by someone from VJ (would potentially just delay the process). Plus, one of coworkers got here via the I-129F visa, and according to her, the same thing also happened to her. Sometimes USCIS listed just her first name initial and last name. Everything went smoothly, she's been here for almost 8 years now.

How many of you folks have done your tax return for 2008 already?

I always do my own return, but this year I may need professional help (this pertains not only to tax issues hahha)

Anyway, obviously my husband does not have a US Social Security number, and I have read loads about the ITN and all that good stuff, but I keep getting more confused.

I just got off the phone with IRS, I requested my tax transcripts (getting ready for NVC phase) and I asked them for help about filing my return as married filing jointly. Here is what the lovely lady told me:

I should first call social security office and see if my husband is eligible for SS#

Only if they say he is not, then I would proceed to obtain ITN, and she also told me pretty much good luck getting an answer out of them without spending some serious time on the phone and at SS offices... Looks like all this will take some time, so I figured I will ask here again about your experiences. What would make my husband eligible for SS# if he never lived here?

What did you do, how did you file your taxes? Did you do it yourself or hired someone?

What is the easiest and safest way to go about filing married jointly with a husband who is a non resident alien?

I have a certified copy of my husband's passport and birth certificate. What do I need, where do I go,...?

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeelp :D

Off the IRS site you will find the W-7 form (for the ITIN) to fill out and to mail with your w2 and return to an address in Texas. I hope I did it all correctly. I have yet to hear back from them.

Can you get a tax transcript for 2008 without filing your taxes yet?

No, of course not... I ordered the transcripts from last 3 years and will have a copy of this year's return if I ever get around filing it :D

So, you did yours by yourself, too? So you just went ahead and got the W7 without checking out this whole SS# thing I talked about earlier? I'll go ahead and do the same then.... I might have questions later :D

Thanks

Yes, as per the IRS website I sent the w7s with notarized photo pages of passports, w2 and 1040

I have only work a total of 6 weeks in the US (from Mid November 2008)

No other work history in the US

I'm 26 and I manage a video store. My job sucks, but the people I work with are great, so it's tolerable. I'm going to go back to school as soon as I can after I move, and after some debts are paid off. But in the meantime, I'm thankful that I get a decent amount of paid vacation time which will allow me to take a few trips to visit my husband while we're waiting. I just booked flights for March 26 - April 1! I'm super excited for that. :) I'm a little nervous about being denied entry, but I'm hoping that if I bring enough evidence that I am going to return home, it should be fine.

I filed my taxes using Turbo Tax online. I put in that I was married and I went through all their questions and ended up not including husband at all and filing head of household. I thought I'd have to go through the whole ITN thing too, but guess not. Got my refund back on 2/13 so it must have been right.

I don't understand the spreadsheet for february. also wanted to correct a mistaken info: our service center is CA, and it doesn't make any sense to me since we live in MA and our SC should be Vermont... Should I be happy it's CSC or...? I've noticed VSC started working much faster lately :) Please explain about the spreadsheets... thanks
