Hi everyone,

Haven't been by for a while, so congratulations to everyone for the progress you all have made. Whidbeygirl, I'll be thinking of you on 23rd and know that everything will turn out just fine. Congrats in advance to Mumtaz and Ani on the arrival of your beautiful babies.

Well, I've had the most frantic three weeks since leaving work at the end of August, clearing my house getting it ready to be rented out. Now, I'm almost done and finalising my packing. Will be leaving for the USA tomorrow morning! I can't believe it, after all this time I finally get to go!!!

Best wishes to everyone and one things for sure - by the end of 2009, we should all be with our loved ones and the end of this painful separation period will be over.

Take care everyone, I'm sure we'll all be meeting up again for Removal of Conditions.

Thanks dvrjwh,

I hope you had a safe flight  because I had a terrible experience going through London Heathrow... All the best to you too, and why leaving us so early? It's true that everyone of us is busy after arriving in US with settling up our lives and getting things up to normal, but our thread will always be OUR thread - with all the friends and best advices we've got to get here on VJ :)

We came back from our trip.

Yesterday I received the green cards.

I came in the USA on 22 nd of August and got the permanent green cards on 17th of September.

How are you doing Ioana? I know you were struggling. Are things better? I pray all is going well.

yes indeed... do you still feel depressed? is life getting better for ya? give it a try, it's not that bad, can not be worst than Romania... also once you start work and send kids to school, and start a life on your own with hubby and no in-laws... mmm, life will be GOOD

I'm leaving my island in less than 8 hours. My flight doesn't leave for another 14 hours but there's not an ferry off the island early enough to get to the airport on time. So I'll probably get to the airport 4 or 5 hours early, depending if my son and I stop to get some breakfast. Poor thing has to wait for the first ferry back, will have about 3 hours and my truck doesn't have any heat. Love my boy :) . He even colored and highlighted my hair for me today.

I know as well what is it to live on an island...those who've never lived will never know... it's a real experience... I used to wake up at 5 am to get the first boat to go to school in Boston, and I was doing it for 2 years... now my classes are at night which makes things much easier

Anyway, just stopping by to wish you all the best luck in the world and I believe we'll all see the good news posted here in 4 days

Hey guys! It's been a while. I've been in Tulsa since last Sunday. The POE experience on Friday was pretty uneventful, although it took a long time to get out of there. The officer was just learning about how to deal with CR-1 visas, so it took a bit longer than it would've otherwise, I think, and I had to import my car too. But yeah, there were no problems and the officer was very nice. My husband and I drove in my car and my Dad followed us in his van which was full of all of my stuff. We didn't make it very far on Friday, mainly because of the delay at the POE and also because we were all just exhausted because we got up super early to finish loading all of my stuff into the van. On Saturday, we went to have lunch at SomberCat's house, and that was awesome! We were too tired to make it all the way to Tulsa on Saturday so we stopped somewhere in Missouri for the night.

So yeah, we made it to Tulsa on Sunday. I got my car registered with Oklahoma plates on Monday and now I'm just waiting for my SSN and green card to arrive so I can get my driver's license switched over too. My Dad left on Tuesday (and I cried like a baby!), so now it's just me and my husband living like regular married people. It's awesome! It's so weird to not have to worry about going home! This IS home now! Whooooaaaa. The apartment totally feels like home, but the city... well... not so much. It's still really frustrating/trying to have nothing "usual" around, but I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually. Usually when we go out shopping or something I find myself wanting to go home pretty quickly, but I guess I was like that in Canada also. Luckily I'm pretty comfortable driving here because it's less hectic than it was at home, and the city seems to be set up pretty logically, so I don't expect I'll get lost ever. And if I do, I have my trusty road atlas in the car.

I'm enjoying being a housewife so far. Hehehe. I mainly sit around all day watching Law and Order and playing video games. I can't unpack most of my stuff until my husband and I pick out some new furniture so I'll actually have somewhere to put everything, because our apartment is pretty small. I figure I'll give myself a few weeks of doing nothing before I get started on figuring out school stuff and/or work.

That's pretty much it for me! Hope everyone is doing well! Good luck to Whidbey on Thursday and to Taj on Friday!

Yes, Heathrow was truly awful. I don't know why they were so difficult. It started with a patronising check in girl (unusual for Virgin, they are usually very nice) and then followed with being stopped and searched at every opportunity. Never had this before so it was a bit of a surprise, although I understand that security is important, the bit that made me smile was that on three separate occasions I was asked to remove my shoes!! I was wearing flip flops for goodness sake!! All the while, people with boots and trainers were wandering through not being stopped. Strange.

POE wasn't great - took over 3 hours as there were not enough staff available (maybe something to do with being a saturday, I don't know), staff were not particularly helpful or friendly. Then we had a 5 hour drive home from the airport. However, feeling much better now I've slept off the jet lag.

I've chalked it all up to experience as being here with my husband makes it all worthwhile!:dance::dance:

HI ITS ME AGAIN, JUST LAST MINUTE JIGGLES!

DOES THE CO USUALLY ASK FOR THE TAX RETURN COPY? I ONLY GAVE MY HUSBAND A COPY OF MY 1040EZ (THE FEDERAL TAX RETURNS) AND A COPY OF THE REFUND CHECK THAT WE GOT BECAUSE WE FILED MARRIED FILLING JOINTLY.

MY COUSIN WHO DID OUR TAXES TAKES A MILLION YEARS TO REPLY TO MY EMAILS AND ONLY FORWARDED A COPY OF THE 1040EZ THROUGH PDF TO MY EMAIL SO MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO PRINT IT OUT. WILL THAT BE SUFFICIENT? OUR INTERVIEW IS IN TWO DAYS AND MY HUSBAND IS GOING TO MANILA ON THURSDAY TO INTERVIEW ON FRIDAY MORNING. WILL THEY ASK FOR THE STATE RETURN? WILL WE BE DENIED OR ASKED TO COME BACK BECAUSE WE DONT HAVE OUT COPY? I MEAN OBVIOUSLY WE FILED FOR BOTH OTHERWISE WE WOULDNT GET THE FEDERAL REFUND RIGHT? I REALLY DONT WANNA BUG MY COUSIN ABOUT IT...I HOPE IT WILL BE ALRIGHT!

I can only hope that I hear something next month for a November interview.

This really sucks :crying:

I feel for ya. I did not receive an interview for October, so I will be here by myself and my wife and kids are getting ... well, on the edge is an understatement. They will be missing my BDay, and I'm not sure If I can make it back for my youngest daughters. In the meantime I have planned to move them here and start school if I don't make November Interviews. 3 weeks of waiting to see if the fit us in for November. We figured that if we don't make November we will not make December as they will probably be shut down for at least a couple weeks in December. Goo luck to those who have their interviews scheduled and congrats to those who made it through.

I would have not been able to get this far without the help of visajourney and it members; 'You'!

It's not necessary to file the state taxes to get the federal return. I have not filed my state taxes (and I don't think they'll ask for them) I did however send my wife the last 3 years of transcripts. Sorry that this is not much help.

BLESS GOD ALMIGHTY even though we had TWO MAJOR descreptancies we were APPROVED!!!! GOD IS SO AWESOME!!! Husband told interviewer wrong internet site where we met and wrong date of meeting the first time but we were able to explain and the woman understood!!! NOT only that I showed her I have already purchased the plane tickets and she said, "We advise not to purchase tickets until visa is in hand." I said, "Yes I understand, but if you look there on his ticket I got a ticket for $140, I HAD to buy it!!" She said, "$140??? Tell me how to do that!" I told her I used airline miles but had to purchase 3 weeks in advance. She asked if I could change it, I said "I can but it wIll cost." She said we don't usually give out visas until Tuesday afternoon and the ticket is for Tuesday morning. I said, "yes I know we bought it being positive we would receive the visa." She said, "Ok I'll put it through now and you will have it Monday" GLORY BE TO GOD ALMIGHTY WE ARE DONE!!!!!!!!!!!
