DARN IT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!

My plan was to use my airline miles to get to my husbands interview. Just called and there are NO flights that I can use my miles on. Now I don't know what to do, I know I need to be there but don't know how I'm getting there.

Good news though - I did find the other beneficiary on the insurance policy so that money could come soon.

Why not use the insurance money to fly to Senegal. I know it's for your hubby's ticket. But like you said, you need to be there for his interview. Worry about one problem at a time.

That is one of the possible solutions. I'm calling the insurance guy tomorrow to see when the money is being released. If it's dependant on when the other person returns the paperwork then it could be awhile as she is 80+ years old.

Hopin' for another miracle too though because I REALLY want him here.

Carlish, thanks for posting this valuable information about SS, I am definitely taking Kenan the next morning when he gets here down to the SS office

You need to wait at least 2 weeks after Kenan's POE before you go to the SSA office. Your visa package that surrender to the Immigration officer at the airport will be forwarded to the USCIS. The USCIS will then update their system about your spouse's immigration status in the US and pass on the information to SSA. Supposedly, the USCIS takes care of processing your SSN application. However, as I was told by the SSA officer, that is not always the case. You need to give the USCIS and the SSA at least two weeks to process and update their systems.

The SSA office will not let you apply for a SSN unless the record shows on their own system. You information from the SSA system will be pass on to the State's system. This will then qualify you to apply for a State's ID/driver's license.

 Thankful to you as always ...

Love,

Leyla

Filed: IR-1/CR-1 Visa Country: China
Timeline
I started filing the IR-1/CR-1 for my wife, who's in China, back in Feb. On May 28, I paid the $400 Visa processing fee, but as of today (a month and a half later), still no instructions from the NVC on next step or sending in the further required documents. How long does it normally take before they send you instructions after you pay? I'm really getting worried now :(

Can someone with similar situation advise? Should I just start filling out the DS-230 and other necessary documents and send them in? According to Dept of State website, I'm not supposed to send anything in until instructed to do so or it may cause further delays.

ps. Guangzhou consulate can now process everything electronically and i've registered for the electronic filing. Am I even supposed to send further documents to the NVC in New Hampshire or scan and email documents to Guangzhou now?

Have you called the NVC and inquired about your case status with them??? It's been over a month that you've been unable to move on with your case and do basically anything....please call NVC ASAP and talk to an operator. Ask them about your IIN (invoice identification number) also your case number if they have it, other than that don't forget to give them your and the beneficiaries email addresses. Without this info neither you nor NVC can go forward with electronic filing, especially since you've opted for doing everything electronically as you mentioned......I suggest you call immediately and figure out what has been going on with your case for the passed month and a half! Ask them what they suggest your next step is....then feel free to come back here and let us know, and we will do our absolute best to guide you as well as we can.

Thanks for your help and suggestion. I called the NVC today and they told me that since i'm doing this electronically, I don't need to wait for any instructions. I could just start getting together all the documents immediately and scan and email them in. I'm happy and disappointed at the same time. Happy because I can now proceed with the next step, disappointed because I wasted more than 1 month. :(

Yayyy.....finally my mothers financial docs have reached me after 7 days!!! Now I'm filling up her I864a and will be faxing that to her so she can sign and mail it back to me....express this time..hehe. The reason I have to fill up her i864a is because if I left it up to her she would become utterly confused....and either take another month on getting that done...or mail it to me and have me do it anyways. So I just decided to fill it in then send it to her once I got her refunds and whatnot.

Now I have a few questions though....

Firstly, my mother and father file jointly.....but only my mother will be signing an i864a because my father doesn't want anything to do with it. I'm wondering if this is ok....I'm pretty sure that it is, but I just want to be sure?

Next, my parents filed for an extension on their 2008 taxes and received the form 4868 Application for Automatic Extension of Time To File U.S. Individual Income Tax Return in return. Just making sure if this is the correct form I should be providing to prove that my parents have filed for an extension and will not be able to provide 2008's tax info?

Also, for the question that asks for adjusted gross income for 3 most recent tax years....since my parents filed for an extension obviously I don't have 2008's adjusted gross income to be exact according to form 1040....what should I put here......"filed for extension"........or what?

Lastly, my mother sent me her tax return copies for 2007 and 2006 which include the following forms:

1040; u.s individual income tax return; schedule A --Itemized Deductions; Schedule C Profit or Loss From Business; Schedule E Supplemental Income and Loss; Schedule Se; Self Employment Tax; Schedule EIC Earned Income Credit - Qualifying Child Information

6251; Alternative Minimum Tax --Individuals.

Other than these forms I have 2 employment letters stating my mothers income with employer name and the rest.....do you guys think this is enough for my moms sponsor papers???

Other than my mothers financial info, I will be sending in a letter of exemption from tax from me proving that I was not required to file taxes for the passed 3 tax years and my and my mothers signed i864a and i864.

What do you guys think?

Dang, but I owe to 8 different doctors, specialists, radiologists, pathologists... even if I set up $50 per month that's still $400 a month!

Don't get me wrong, I am not a bad person, I intend to pay all those people for their work, it's just that this year is such a bad timing ...

It makes me so mad that close to 4K of the 10K I owe is pharmacy billing, that's too damn much money for couple of IVs and pain medicine.

I cannot let this stress me out any more, because I have noticed I am getting weaker by the day, can't stop shaking and biting my nails, I catch myself looking like a crazy person looking completely distressed, lost, can't pay attention to anything any more, and my mom and husband have been telling me for a month now to seek a psychologists.

I would go if they wouldn't charge this much, all the healing he would do would be reversed once I received his damn bill

Thanks for your advice girls, I really appreciate it ...

Go to Mex and get your pills over there? Way cheaper option....my dentist is in Tijuana and he rocks :D

How about if you ask at Embassy, if he can pickup Visa same day.. because that option is there in India...
