Wooo hooooooooo hoooooo !!!

They allowed me to take time off work, so I can see my husband and be at the interview with him

And my tax return came through today, which covers my airline ticket price

I am leaving on 8.6 and coming back 8.22, without hubby:( but October is just around the corner when he will be here.

Just called my agent to confirm the flight, hopefully he calls me back today to complete the transaction and I can sleep peacefully tonight (after a looong time)

Already feel better from the teeth extractions I had done yesterday, so overall this day has been a great day and it's not even noon yet, so since I had good news for once I came here to share that with ya :)

By the way, I am trying to figure out when did I become this person that shares all kinds of personal ####### online ... :)

Love you allllllllllllllll

That's awesome, V!! Yay!!

At least you'll get a break from everything that's going on. :star:

Got the ok from work to go to husbands interview. The only issue causing the stress I posted the other day is that the money I have been counting on for this trip is being held up! I am 1 of 4 beneficiaries on a small insurance policy my grandmother had. Two of the other three are my siblings, the other is my grandmothers neice and we cannot locate her anywhere!! I didn't think it was all that big of deal, for the teachers union to just put her portion in a trust until she is found and then disperse the remaining to my brother, sister and I but NO they can't do that. RRRRRRR so I'm doing my darnest to find her or her death certificate if she has past. IT'S HARD when one has a common name - darn it! I have enough to get me to the interview and for a couple nights of our hotel. What I don't have is any for his ticket home so I may have to leave him there until we can get the money :crying:

Just something to share...

Since Carlo's SS card (which was supposed to arrive in the mail 2 weeks after his POE) hasn't arrived after 26 days, Carlo and I decided to go the SS office yesterday to inquire about it.

His info/record has been entered into the system, but USCIS didn't process his SS application, thus, no SS number has been assigned to him yet

The officer told us that Carlo needed to submit a SSN application. Aside from his passport, he was asked to provide his birth certificate along with his passport/temporary green card. He will get his SS card in 2 weeks.

It sucked that almost two weeks were wasted waiting for nothing. Argggh!!

One more thing, I officially changed my last name to my married name. Yay!! :star:

Congratulations on changing your name. I hope Carlo gets his SS card soon. I am just wondering! So, that means that we all have to do that, I mean we have to go to SS office to apply for SS card?? Or is it only that USCIS forgot to put some info in this case?? have you seen any other person on the forum who actually got their SS card without going to the Office?? I do not wanna waste two weeks when my wife gets here, that's why i am asking you!! Thanks and enjoy!!!!

Thanks Rehan!

Yes, there are some cases here at VJ where they didn't experience this problem with the USCIS. The officer at the SSA told me that sometimes USCIS doesn't process and submit the SSN application. It's better to check and go to the SSA office to inquire about the application.

Yes, I would go to a SSA office rather than relying on USCIS. Thanks for the info!!

W, please don't worry too much, somehow things will fall in place, you'll see. I was about to lose my f-ing mind the other day when all these expenses came my way, thinking how will I afford tickets and the trip now, and then...boom! my tax refund deposited into my checking acct, and it should have been another 4 weeks they said before it was due to be refunded.

God works in mysterious ways, he really does ...

Carlish, thanks for posting this valuable information about SS, I am definitely taking Kenan the next morning when he gets here down to the SS office

Hope everyone is doing well. I just came back from work (joy of closing shifts in retail) and we have a huge visit from corporate offices tomorrow, so pray for me that everything goes well. I cannot lose this job now

3 more weeks until my flight, 3 more weeks

I started filing the IR-1/CR-1 for my wife, who's in China, back in Feb. On May 28, I paid the $400 Visa processing fee, but as of today (a month and a half later), still no instructions from the NVC on next step or sending in the further required documents. How long does it normally take before they send you instructions after you pay? I'm really getting worried now :(

Can someone with similar situation advise? Should I just start filling out the DS-230 and other necessary documents and send them in? According to Dept of State website, I'm not supposed to send anything in until instructed to do so or it may cause further delays.

ps. Guangzhou consulate can now process everything electronically and i've registered for the electronic filing. Am I even supposed to send further documents to the NVC in New Hampshire or scan and email documents to Guangzhou now?

Have you called the NVC and inquired about your case status with them??? It's been over a month that you've been unable to move on with your case and do basically anything....please call NVC ASAP and talk to an operator. Ask them about your IIN (invoice identification number) also your case number if they have it, other than that don't forget to give them your and the beneficiaries email addresses. Without this info neither you nor NVC can go forward with electronic filing, especially since you've opted for doing everything electronically as you mentioned......I suggest you call immediately and figure out what has been going on with your case for the passed month and a half! Ask them what they suggest your next step is....then feel free to come back here and let us know, and we will do our absolute best to guide you as well as we can.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! Just look at all those interviews piling up!! My god.....so many congratulations, so little time (and patience on my side, lol). Therefor, CONGRATULATIONS ON ALL OF THE NEW INTERVIEWS!!!!!!!!! WOOHOOOOO!

And congrats to V and Whidbey on getting the time off to go see the hubsters for interview.

sorry to hear about all the stress floatin' around lately. I'll be praying for both of you V n Whidbey!!! Inshallah everything will be dandy ^_^. V is completely right.....God works in mysterious ways!!

Thanks for the heads-up CARLISH. This means the very first thing me and Haseeb are doing once we get to the states is going to the SS office and asking whether they have his application or not. No wonder why us Feb Filers had such a comparatively quick process.....USCIS was slacking off!

Here is the number for NVC 603-334-0700. Call them and talk to an operator, I'm pretty sure they will suggest that you give them your email addresses and go to the immigration website to do the rest of the electronic filing. If not, still give them your email addresses and ask for your Invoice Identification Number and NVC case number. Also, when you call them remember to keep your USCIS receipt number at hand as you will need it in order to identify yourself and your case. Also would be best if you remember your SO's date of birth and full name as filed with USCIS. Good luck.

Carlish, thanks for posting this valuable information about SS, I am definitely taking Kenan the next morning when he gets here down to the SS office

You need to wait at least 2 weeks after Kenan's POE before you go to the SSA office. Your visa package that surrender to the Immigration officer at the airport will be forwarded to the USCIS. The USCIS will then update their system about your spouse's immigration status in the US and pass on the information to SSA. Supposedly, the USCIS takes care of processing your SSN application. However, as I was told by the SSA officer, that is not always the case. You need to give the USCIS and the SSA at least two weeks to process and update their systems.

The SSA office will not let you apply for a SSN unless the record shows on their own system. You information from the SSA system will be pass on to the State's system. This will then qualify you to apply for a State's ID/driver's license.

Mumtaz, welcome back hun :) hope you had a great vacation with hubby :P

I started filing the IR-1/CR-1 for my wife, who's in China, back in Feb. Can someone with similar situation advise? Should I just start filling out the DS-230 and other necessary documents and send them in? According to Dept of State website, I'm not supposed to send anything in until instructed to do so or it may cause further delays.

:time:

and yes, don't send DS-230 without further notice from NVC, because you'll need a cover sheet they are going to send you to attach to your DS-230 package. As Mumtaz suggested already, call NVC and ask for :help: Even if doing everything electronically, still need an advise from NVC. Good luck
