feb filers help!

ok so i was a full time student in the philippines in 2007 and 2006 and i did not file my taxes because i was not working at the time. i am currently trying to make my cover letter for my I 1864 and i was told that i would have to explain why i did not file taxes for 2007 and 2006. could someone please help me on this...

here is what i have so far:

Enclosed please find the Form I-864, Affidavit of Support for my husband, ________ and supporting documents as follows:

• I-864 Coversheet (with barcode)

• Form I-864 (Signed and dated)

• 2008 Federal Tax Return, W2 and 1040EZ

• Letters of Employement

• Pay stub(s) from October 2008 – May 2008

Tax returns for the previous years (2007, 2006) were not filed because I was a full time student in the Philippines with no employment income for those years.

what else can i say?

Yes, everything is fine!!

You said that you will explain to them that why you did not file in 2007 and 2006. Also, it is a good idea if you can get a letter from your employer stating that you will make(Your Regular Salary this year), which is above the poverty level. I would get this letter if it's not hard to get because it will help you!! Best of luck to you!!!!

I signed in to NVC today and IV bill shows paid...cover sheet is available...yey!

However, I got a weird e-mail from them today, dated 5 June.

______DS-230-I:____________________________________________________

The NVC has received the requested Affidavit of Support (I-864). However, we are still waiting for the

Immigrant Visa fee(s). Please submit the fee(s) according to the instructions on the IV fee bill sent to

you from NVC. If you have not received an IV fee bill, please contact NVC. Do not pay the fees unless

you have the accompanying IV fee bill as this will result in a delay in processing your case.

Is this an RFE? Could this be a false RFE? Obviously I have not sent DS230 yet, the cover sheet just became available. The fee is paid and shows as paid on 3 June. What am I supposed to do with this? Do I just proceed with the next step as I normally would (sending in IV/DS230 package) or do I have to reply to this request????

You're fine. It's a false RFE (odd coincidence, I just posted the same thing while you were typing, showing the false RFE I got :)). You are fine to send your DS-230 with the coversheet from the payment of the IV bill. You don't need to use the one that came with the RFE.

My husband just got the police certificate from Sialkot...which is the only city he's lived in since he was 16. He hasnt lived anywhere else after that. It was pretty simple, we just went to the kachairie's(Thats like a lawyer bazaar...lol) we told them we needed a police clearence...actually it was police charactar certificate for our visa and then right in front of us the guy typed it all out and in about 5 minutes we got it....with quite a bit of extra cash I admit...but it was pretty fast. Plus my husband knows a ton of lawyers who are willing to do pretty much anything for him in much less time then it normally takes......and if you went and requested one and paid the...1600/2000 rupees I think you would have to wait 2 weeks to get it.

thank you mumtaz...i think im pretty much all set...my husbands even has a picture of him in it and yes it was just typed and with some stamps on it plus i was able to research and got this:

Police Records

Police records (also known as Character Certificates) are available at no cost from District Coordinating Offices, and take up to three months to obtain. There is no central police register in Pakistan, and applicants should therefore provide certificates from every jurisdiction in which they have lived for the requisite period of time. Police certificates are available by mail. Applicants currently outside Pakistan should contact the nearest Pakistani Embassy or Consulate for instructions.

Non-Pakistani citizens may have difficulty obtaining police records even if they are/were residents of Pakistan. Police records are unavailable to non-Pakistani citizens if they are/were not officially resident in Pakistan while present here (e.g., Afghan citizens staying in refugee camps.)

well firstly, you can check the avr daily...if not several times a day. Secondly you can call and talk to an operator. These are the most reliable ways IMO.
