Hi everybody, seen that theres no January 2009 topic, Im going to post on here... after all the I129F was filed in Feb 2009... But guys, i see that a lot of you have theyr cases approved, and some of yous are going for interview.... how come im still here waiting news from the vermont service centre?

Sorry, but the only real answer is that Vermont is pretty slow. Check some of the folks with Vermont timelines for a K-3 visa (most of us in this thread filed for CR1 visas) and that should give you a good idea of what time frame you're looking at.

They should really do something about it

I can't argue with that. Several people have posted opinions on why one location is fast and the other is slow, but I'm not sure any of them are really accurate. At one time, California was incredibly slow, so go figure but then they picked up the pace and Vermont was so slow that they transferred several petitions to California from there at the end of last year. It really is crazy. Hang in there and hopefully you'll hear something soon.

I can't seem to find an instructions sheet for the DS230. Anyone know where I can find one. I typically include the instructions with my packets so I can highlight the items I have included per their instructions.

We submitted original documents to NVC. You may want to double check with an operator, but I think you can send copies. Our appointment/interview letter indicated whether we provided the original documents (birth certificate, marriage certificate, and police clearances, etc). There was a note that if we didn't submit the originals, we should do so during the interview at the Embassy.

After talking with my husband more here's the issue:

He lost his birth certificate. He went to the registry to get one but since he didn't have the registration number and they aren't computerized they would not search through 40+ years of certificates looking for his - don' t blame them. BUT what they did was generate a new one for him and the "authority" signed it with a date in the year husband was born. Husband didn't feel right submitting that one so he went to the courts to get an affidavit of lost birth certificate - which I have the original BUT he doesn't have the secondary support. His parents are both deceased and there are no other records. I didn't realize he was getting the affidavit otherwise I would have told him to have his sister write an affidavit of support. SO............................ what do I do?

OPTION 1: Send the affidavit and hope not to get an RFE

OPTION 2: Have his sister WAIT ANOTHER two or more weeks for it to get here.

OPTION 3: Send in copy of birth certificate with a note that original will be shown at interview and risk being found out that it's not the "REAL" original.

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

arrrrrrrrgh those IRS agents are F-ing useless, what ever question you ask them they read something off of the information that you can see yourself online. I can read, I don't need you to repeat it to me lady, I am calling because it makes no sense to me, frickin' clarify it for me!!!!!!!!!

I am reading over the info that accompanies W-7 application, and it says that any visa information showing in the passport must be entered on line 6c.

My husband came to US only once in 2007 on a B1/B2 visa, which expired last year. He left before it expired, of course.

I called to ask whether I need to put that info onto W-7 even if it is expired because it is in his passport, or does that question pertain only to visas that are still currently valid.

The IRS lady did not know, she kept reading that script and at times sounded like yes I should enter it, but it was not clear at all... she was very mean.

I mean, it only asks for entry date to united states, nowhere does it ask for when he left US, so if I fill out the form like she is making it sound then it will sound like my husband entered US in July 2007, has not left, and expiration date on visa was August 2008.

I don't wanna cause confusion on that form to raise flags, but if it is important that I put the visa info, then I guess I should.

I am just so confused.

Dealing with immigration visas and taxes sucks, I am so ready to throw in the towel, I cannot deal with it any more, I am exhausted and no one can help when you call them, they just make you run in circles.

What should I write in on this damn W-7 application, should I just write NONE since his visa has long expired and he has not overstayed his visit, and just not think about it any more? I am so lost...

Wait, I think I'm confused. So the original BC that you're referring to that you currently have, is the new one that the authority certified as a replacement?

If this is the case, I'd go with Option 3. As long as you can show the original BC (certified by the authority) at the interview with affidavits (his and his sister), I think you'd be okay.

No I was mistaken, the copy of the birth certificate that I have is the new one that was created 3 weeks ago. He no longer has his original BC.

Hi Everyone...

I called the AVR this morning while Sofia was asleep (rare moment) and it said that our case was completed on May 22. Finally! :star:

For the rest of you who have their cases completed, how long did it take for you to receive the e-mail from NVC with the interview date? I think I read that they do not schedule interviews until the second week of the month, which is annoying. I plan on calling them anyway just to be sure.

My mom went back to work, so it is just me and Sofia now. It is definitely a huge adjustment, but I think we are doing okay. It would be nice to have my husband here for the extra support! (and I totally know what you all mean about the phone bills... we spend about $50 a week and we Skype pretty much every day)

Hope you are all doing well (L)

Congrats!!!!

Skype to Skype calls are free can't you use that?

We do Skype to Skype and just regular phone calls ($50 a week usually in calling cards). It is not always possible to do Skype because of the time difference... whenever he is done with work, it is only halfway through my day and I can't Skype at work. Now it is convenient since I am on maternity leave... but before Skype was really only possible on the weekends.

congrats

they're not scheduling any interviews till next month now. But, call the operator and ask them if you qualify for expediting of case because of the baby. Make excuses that you need him here to help with the baby cuz its difficult. (i'll let you think of an excuse) ;)

I spoke to an operator today and I got the answer that I expected: they will begin scheduling interviews in the second week of June for July. But then she mentioned that they forwarded the expedite request to the consulate in Naples and they are waiting for a response from them... which is weird because I didn't even mention the expedite. I have pretty much given up on it since I applied for it in early April. Maybe they will still take it into consideration? That would be amazing... but I am not about to hold my breath.
