Alright my friends, the documents that the hubster sent me should be here by end of this week, I am getting ready to send in the AOS and IV packet.

Need your help with DS-230, please:

Question #43a. Have you ever applied for a Social Security Number (SSN)?

My husband never applied for one before, so for this question I should answer NO in order for him to get one now, correct?

But I am confused by this:

"Do you want the Social Security Administration to assign you a SSN and issue a card? (You must answer YES to question 33b. to receive a number and a card.)

So I am looking at the DS-230 form and there is no question 33b.

The only thing I see under 33 is this:

33. List below all educational institutions attended.

School and Location From/To (mm-yyyy) Course of Study Degree or Diploma

Languages spoken or read

Professional associations to which you belong

There is no B part here, nor do I see how this question has anything to do with social security card. Did they mean must answer YES to 43b and they put 33b by mistake?

That's the only thing that makes sense to me, but maybe I am missing something...

Thank you!

In the form that i filled the question 33a is if you have ever aplied for SSN and 33b is if you want a replacement and then without a number it says if you wanted the Social Security Administration to assign you a SSN and issue a card and it says you must answer yes to 33b

Do you want the archive?

Yea, its a misprint. I did not even notice it when I filled and sent mine out. You should enter "YES" here.

best of prayers.

NVC is not being nice to me...

...I sent my IV form and AOS packet together in one envelope on the 30th of April. Its been almost three weeks. After first week, I received an rfe msg in the AVR about a missing original marriage certificate. I spoke to an operator explaining that its in the packet...the issue was forwarded to a supervisor and resolved in a couple of days. Then, I heard another rfe message about missing documents, and operator told me that its just a false rfe and my case is still under review. Friday, I received another rfe msg in the AVR about missing or incomplete information on the financial forms, so I called the operator and I was told that I need to send my aos packet (what the heck?!! ) So, after a short discussion with this operator, I was told that "nevermind, they have already reviewed the aos packet and there is nothing missing. Then, I asked them that what is the status of my case, and she said, she does not know. I've been getting rfe checklists in the email too which I am suppose to ignore according to the operators. They say my IV form is complete and my aos packet is complete (then, why do they keep sending me rfe's).

I've been wanting to laugh and cry at the same time.

Anyways, current status is that my file is going to be sent to a suprvisor to see what the heck is going on and if I need to send anything else. (final review?) Lets just hope that everything is fine and I get my case complete.

The worst thing has been that I get these rfe msges on friday nights, and there are no operators on saturdays and sundays. So, I've been spending my weekends in frustrated grouchy moods. It sucks and I am tired.

end of rant. lol

 Never been so happy to get a bill! AOS and DS3032 came via e-mail today. I paid the bill right away.

Question about the DS3032...I see people are e-mailing them. How do you handle the signature portion? Do you sign it, scan it and then e-mail or is a signature not required if e-mailed? Also, they screwed up my wife's e-mail address. Does it matter if she sends it in from an e-mail other than what they have on file (only the domain name is wrong)?

Our case number was assigned on the 11th as well, so I hope we're going to have ours generated too

I'm glad you put the question about DS-3032 on VJ, I was going to ask the same thing

Best of wishes, Mayra and Robin

Okay, so I called nvc and spoke to this really nice girl Molly and she said that it makes no difference in what order I sent the packages, either way is fine...just like carlish said. She told me that since they received my IV package on the 15th they would have started reviewing it right away. So that makes it 4-5 days under review.....my question this time around is.......how long does it normally take the nvc to review the IV package and give their results/conclusion??? Molly said it should take anywhere near 2 to 4 weeks....what are your ideas or estimates guys??

I am really sorry!! As you may know, NVC put my case in the Green card category and it took more than two weeks to resolve this. I had to mail them and email them even though it was their mistake and it was really very frustrating. I hope your case will finish soon. I personally think that it is not a good idea to send both packets together because they are going to two different departments for review. Although some members were successful when they sent them together, it also depends who opens your mail. Best of luck to you!!!!!!

Thank you!

I used the previous version of this form. 33b should be 43b. You should answer YES.

I wonder if my husband need to fill out this new form to bring with us for his interview? We might as well do just in case they need the updated version of the DS-230.
