to carlish or to anyone willing to help: for the local police clearance, my husband got one copy and they said he can apply for another one when the interview at the embassy comes...do they really do this? also for the NBI, they said they can give only one copy that is good for one year, he will pick it up on may 18...now i am wondering where can we get it certified, the NBI police clearance? also my husband was able to get another birth certificate and police clearance from pakistan but i was just wondering where we can have it certified in case we need more copies? is it the same as notarized? will they accept this in NVC? we tried to ask the pakistan embassy in the philippines if they can certify a copy of the original police clearance from pakistan but they said they could not do it. anyone have any idea?

Notarized is not the same as certified.

then where can i get it certified if i need more copies

Hey Taj,

I had the similar confusion so just to be on safe side I decided to send in originals then sending any notarized copies.. I believe in India a government officials creates a document with official red seal and ticket stamps of 150Rs. and they call that as notarized in India. but I guess here any body even in the Banks a person can do Notary.. so I guess that is the confusion.. But still i'll send in the originals :)

hey Carlish... how long did it take for the NVC to scan in/start reviewing your RFE package? I received delivery confirmation from FedEx that the package arrived (and was signed for) at the NVC on Tuesday morning... but as of yesterday, they still haven't scanned it in yet.

I just wanted to hear how long it took for them to scan your RFE package before I start to call them everyday, hahaha.

Thanks! :)

Awesome!! Congratulations! This is so exciting!!

Your case is completed today. Talk to an operator to confirm it. I got the "sign in failed" at around 9PM PT last Tuesday (May 5), and the operator confirmed that our case was complete yesterday (May 6).

Unfortunately, the local police station and the NBI will only issue one copy of the PCC. You will need to request another one before the interview. Make sure to tell them that the purpose of the request was for "Travel to USA" and not for local employment or legal purpose. It will be printed in the certificate.

Called AVR and got "missing information, letter was sent May 6th" I was like :girlwerewolf2xn:

Then decided to call operator to find out what I was missing - NOTHING!!! Just waiting for IV Bill to be paid :) Just a bit of a scare!

SO finally got his PCC from Senegal yesterday - WHAT AN ORDEAL!!!!!!!!!! He had to pay a bribe just to get it!!!! The POLICE told him foreigners aren't allowed to have police certificates - #######????? He was so worried about giving the police a bribe for fear he'd be arrested. Thank goodness they just needed an extra 5,000CFA (about $10) and they gave it to him. I REALLY wanted to this whole process completely legal and following all the rules but what the heck are you supposed to do when the ONE AND ONLY place in the country that gives out the PCC's for foreigns refuses to do so????

Thanks for all the congrats, guys! I appreciate it! You all rock! Seriously! :)

The congrats may be slightly premature though... My husband called NVC again today, and he said they told him there was no change from yesterday... they are finished reviewing everything and the case just needs some additional processing and to call back on Monday. Uhhh what? He certainly didn't mention "additional processing" yesterday... I don't like the sound of that. It's too close to "administrative processing" for my liking! Heh. I'm not concerned yet though. I figure if it was extensive 'additional processing', they would've said to call back in 2-4 weeks or something, not Monday. (I'm totally gonna call back later today or tomorrow anyway.) If they have in fact reviewed everything we sent, and they didn't notice/care about my error on the DS-230 with the high school dates, then that's good enough for me right now.
