The US has always indulged in limited warfare and strikes against its perceived enemies. Iraq was subject to aerial bombardment throughout the Clinton administration (though this didn't get much airplay on the news here).

I'm under few illusions that we'll likely continue with more of the same (in fact I read something a couple of months ago about Bush authorising some sort of covert operations to disrupt Irans nuclear program), but I very much doubt we'll be pulled into a full scale war with Iran, short of something drastic and unprecedented taking place.

Two bulls in a china shop, but I agree. Wait and see. Maybe, an escalation in the middle east might just distract us from our problems at home. Worked before.

We've been fixated on the ME for the last 8 years. With the economy hitting the skids - I imagine people are hoping for their leaders to address pressing domestic issues. I know I am.

Ovomit could learn a thing or two, first the cold hard reality of politics is this, what you promise and lie about on the campaign trail is never practical or possible once you get into office, he will soon learn there was a very good reason for the things that Cheney and Bush did. AND hopefully the fool will learn. I just love his great judgement when picking this cabinet of his, and seeing 4 of them had legal or major non payment of tax issue problems, what a joke this guy is, change he said, we all I see if more of the same old same old going on in Washington DC. No lobbyists he said well why is he always making exceptions to his own rules all the time to fit people in that he wants? This guy is not even a good leader let alone messiah, you people have been duped! AHHAAH Get ready for things to get worse in the economy for he has not a clue what to do! In an interview Tuesday with Politico, Cheney unyieldingly defended the Bush administration’s support for the Guantanamo Bay prison and coercive interrogation of terrorism suspects.

And he asserted that President Obama will either backtrack on his stated intentions to end those policies or put the country at risk in ways more severe than most Americans — and, he charged, many members of Obama’s own team — understand.

“When we get people who are more concerned about reading the rights to an Al Qaeda terrorist than they are with protecting the United States against people who are absolutely committed to do anything they can to kill Americans, then I worry,” Cheney said.

Protecting the country’s security is “a tough, mean, dirty, nasty business,” he said. “These are evil people. And we’re not going to win this fight by turning the other cheek.”

He said he worried that “instead of sitting down and carefully evaluating the policies,” Obama officials are unwisely following “campaign rhetoric” and preparing to release terrorism suspects or afford them legal protections granted to more conventional defendants in crime cases.

The choice, he alleged, reflects a naive mindset among the new team in Washington: “The United States needs to be not so much loved as it needs to be respected. Sometimes, that requires us to take actions that generate controversy. I’m not at all sure that that’s what the Obama administration believes.”

Why is anyone still giving a rats ####### as to what Cheney has to say? Everything he stands for was voted off the island in November of 2008. He and Bush allowed some scumbags to influence our way of life and change the way we do business. They allowed themselves to be moved by those scumbags to trample on the Constitution of this great nation and betray the values which it used to represent. They're weak and they failed.

Weak? Failed? interesting, how you come to that conclusion. Guess the same could be said about this current failure who is weak and unable to deal with appointing honest tax paying citizens of the USA to his cabinet.

Sure that is what you are going to see, there will be little if any change at all, and all those campaign promises he made will be just that, pipe dreams and you will find that things could be worse than what they were for the past 8 years. So sit back and take a load off and just watch and suffer through it, for it is coming on like a full force hurricane now and the messiah that you all voted for is not going to be able to stop it. Its all simple math, really.

A negative multiplied by a negative (perceived by the previous negatives) equals a positive.

While in reality, what will be happening is an additive rule:

An older negative number whose absolute value is less than X, is added to a positive value X = a positive.

Both scenarios, to the set of Real numbers observing in actual time, notice that the outcome is more positive than before.
