Why the U.S.?

What makes you want to bring your fiance to the U.S.... instead of relocating to his/her native country?

Cost of living is better. We can afford a home and there are more job opportunities in the US. Everything (mostly) is much cheaper here.

I did live in her native country for 4 years though, and its my second home and where we will likely retire.

Honestly, I wonder how many less of these petitions would be clogging up the system if there was no choice to come to America, but the American had to move to where the person lived.

Wild guess - a whole lot, especially from many of the third-world countries (Phillipines/South American/Asia).

Just my opinion, but I suspect many people feel this in their hearts, but will not admit it on the board.

Did you mean by that that not many americans would have the courage to move out of america, even if they are in love and so they'd give up on the relationship instead of moving?

Otherwise : He wants me to go there because he know how much I love 24h grocery stores and crazy all you can eat buffets :D

Um, how about better healthcare? We had a long discussion about who would move, and since we both want children, probably within the next 5 years, we decided that we would live here because I have to be close to my doctor (with whom I can communicate and have a longtime, trusting relationship) for medical reasons if I want to have children without risking my life.

Also, I am a teacher, as is my fiance, and we decided that we can go back to visit Morocco in the summers. But trust me, if it weren't for the healthcare issue, I would much rather live in Morocco and not have to live the American lifestyle, and hopefully later in the future that can be a possibility for us. For now, though, we'll have to start our lives together here.

I still miss Australia and my family like a crazy woman

Just out of curiousity, why don't you adjust status? Why go back home if you are already here?

NOA 2. Really?

Top 10 Reasons My Fiancee Wants to Live in the USA

  1. ...

America, is this a great country or what?

Awesome !

 Great!

In my case the reason is that I (the USC) have lived most of my life abroad in other countries and really decided that at this point in my life, post-divorce, it was time for me to assess what I wanted to do with my life, and a big part of that was that I wanted to return to the US. That's for complex reasons, some work related, mostly society and culture related. One factor was 9/11. I was living in the US on that fateful day, and that moment unlike any other has crystalized my feelings and passion for this country. America has flaws, but her ideals are indeed a beacon to the nations of the world. I am proud to be an American, and unabashedly so.

The decision for me to move back to the US then became an integral part of my initial conversations with my fiancee as to our basic compatibility. Along with the usual questions, e.g. Do you want kids? Are you responsible with money or will you max out my credit cards? Do you think my nose looks funny? What side of the bed do you sleep on? , I also posed the question: "If I move to the US, will you join me there?". She replied yes. That clinched the deal. It's always been clear that she is moving stateside to be with me, not because she had some particular fondness for the US. I was previously living in Israel, and we discussed the option of her joining me there, or of my moving to Thailand. She was open to any and all, so long as we were together.

Better opportunities for wifey in her home country but we decided better opportunities for BOTH here, which I believe is what marriage is all about anyways.

We have left open the option for going back sometime in the future, but no immeadiate plans. I would like to retire in her home country (Brazil).

I couldn't have said it better!

I'm still finishing my undergrad, so it just makes more sense short-term. As for long-term, Sebastian lived in the U.S. for 5 years as a child and has always considered it 'home'. I'm studying nursing and from the sounds of things, my career will be much more lucrative here than in the U.K.

We're definitely keeping our options open, though. We're going to get his citizenship and take it from there :).

My fiancée's still in college, and she doesn't know a word of Danish, so it's just a whole lot more practical for me to go to the US. =p I really like the US, too. There's an overwhelming sense of freedom and possibilities compared to Denmark, and I feel much more at home there with her, than having her here with me. My experience with Americans, both working with them and socialising is that they're either competent, friendly or both, and that's such a refreshing change from Denmark where people are often neither of the two. I know that there are idiots in the US, just like everywhere else, but you've only got the company you keep, and I've kept excellent company so far. =)

Sending in the I-129F on Friday! \o/

It truly must be with the help of divine intervention that after entering into this well-defined bureaucratic process, we were blessed with the expected outcome within the predefined timeline. Praise deities!

it took me a couple of years to get perviz to even agree to allow me to petition for him, the biggest reason i want him to come to the usa is most of my family is all here, second he can learn new surgical procedures here, treatment of cancer, and many other things that india does not have yet or they treat differently, i think it never hurts to gain knowledge other than what your own country teaches , he is a great doctor but i feel he could really benefit from some study here in our hospitals, and lastly if he has usa citizenship he can travel to any place in the world i do have family in some other countries as well.

as for living in india sure if he can not get a visa here i will move to india with out hesitating
