DAD LPR seeking SB-1 returning resident visa

Dad left country many years ago on a 3 month vacation while divorced to my mother in A LPR status awaiting interview for his naturalization while on vacation suffered a major auto accident and was in rehab for over 4 years my father remains disabled with no money and just recieved contact form him about 2 years agp .... and I am seeking to a sb-1 visa for my father in order for him not to have to go through the whole process all over again but i see this as a remote possibility does anyone have any experience with this visa how does it work do i have a legit shot at obtaining the visa for my dad.....or should i have him just renounce lpr.... and petition him again and start the whole process all over again

The SB-1 is a re-entry document for returning residents. Since Dad never intended to be gone very long, but circumstances changed his plans, it certainly would be better to try that than to start from scratch. Consult an immigration attorney, to be sure would be the best bet.
