Canadian PR Calgary tourist(b2) visa interview, suggestions/information?

My wife (a recent PR from the Philippines) would like to visit the US for shopping and visiting family/friends..

We're wondering what sorts of questions she'll be facing and what we need to do/bring.

My wife doesn't have a job as of yet but we've linked both our names to the title of the house.

We have linked bank accounts and she's on my life insurance.

What else would they want for proof she'll return to Canada?

How do we fill out the visa app form (ds-156) in regards to who/where she is going? We don't have a specific visit in mind, we'd like a multi entry visa so we can hop over the border to Grand Forks/Minnieapolis for shopping, visit cousins in Chicago on a long weekend and so on.

How about occupation? (she's a fresh nurse without Canadian registration as of yet)

If anyone has gone through this, we'd love some information on how it went.

Thanks in advance

Sorry, I'm confused by your post. Are you an American citizen and live here and she has PR status in Canada, or are you Canadian and you both want to come to the US to visit? Have you applied/are you applying for a US family visa?

Whoops, sorry, guess I didn't explain that well.

I'm (husband) a Canadian cit and she (my wife) is a Philippine national with a Canadian PR card.

We'd both like to visit the US.

I don't have a problem of course, just drive up and head through.

We are hoping for a multi entry/multi year visa so we can hop across for shopping, or vacation/visit her friends/family in the US.

Oh, okay. Well, just by virtue of the fact that she will be with her husband and you are travelling with her I would imagine that will be pretty good proof that she will return. :) For additional proof, take a look at this link: Visitation FAQ's. It specifically talks about fiance(e) visa applicants but a lot of the information is transferable.

As for the DS-156 questions...... it's alright to put "To be determined" if you don't have definitive plans. For the occupation..... is she working at all, as yet, or is she a registered nurse in the PI? If it were me, I would enter what you have stated "Nurse awaiting Canadian registration" or even just "Nurse".

If you are both Canadian citizens, you don't need a Visa to visit the US.

PR.....isn't that a permanent resident of Canada? Would that not make her Canadian, so why would she need another Visa to visit the US?

She will just need her PR card from Canada and her passport from home to visit the States I believe. I have a friend who is a PR, she went on a curise to Mexico and all she needed was the PR card and her passport from her home country.

Unless I am missing something here and they are trying to move her down to the US.

No, you aren't missing anything, they just want to visit.

A permanent resident of Canada is not a Canadian Citizen (two different things)

If you are a PR of Canada then when you visit the U.S. you follow the procedure in place for your country of birth - not the Canadian procedure. He mentions his wife is a citizen of the Phillipines, the Phillipines does not have a visa waiver program with the U.S., therefore she will need a visitor's visa.
