I(the petitioner) am filling up the DS 230 for my father(the beneficiary). He's been divorced with my mother, who is here in the US. He has all the divorce papers. In the Marital Status, should I put divorced or married?? I know there's no divorce in the Philippines but he has all the papers. Also, he's going to be interviewed at the US Embassy so if Iput divorced and my father lives in the Philippines, I think it should be understandable right? So if put divorced, shouldn't I put NONE in the NAME OF SPOUSE.....I have no idea about this divorce thing. I'm so confused.........pls.......somebody help me.......thank you...........

I'd say put in divorced, and write none in SPOUSE place. It is not an important factor, since he has all divorce papers. Also, he will be interviewed at US embassy under US rules, so there being no divorce in Philippines doesn't matter.

That's interesting, I didn't know divorces didn't exist in the Philippines. Very odd indeed.

But I agree, since he has divorce papers to prove his divorce, he needs to write done DIVORCED in his DS-230 and put NONE in the spouse's name question since he doesn't have one.
