It makes me sad to read of how horrid NJ is for you who live there.

Perhaps we will all converge on Hawai'i one day and live out our senior years within the fragrant scent of hibiscus. Mmmm...

Now I would like to add a personal answer as to why USians need to learn more about (or aboot as the OP wrote hahaha) Canada:

because ignorance breeds fear which breeds hatred which breeds intolerance which breeds nationalism etc etc etc....

Then people want to conquer and claim. :o

This might be sound advice for anyone anywhere and not specific to these two countries....and I mean it both ways actually. :D

Geography, climate and culture.

Three things to study.

Get after it people!

Hahaha!

I love both countries for different reasons.

I wish I could blend them into one. Hee, hee.

Well, when I am the Empress of the World, I will.

:star:

South Jersey isn't smelly. Amanda just needs to move down here. :P

Nope, doesn't even smell in the summer, south and north jersey are two very different places.

South Jersey is full of rich yummy mommies who dress in their daughters juicy couture and drive SUVs and carry their ugly coach bags. The stench is from the people, not the air.

It's interesting how we (people in general) will often complain about all the perceived negative stuff when moving somewhere new within our own country or to a different one. As time goes on, we feel more comfortable and even begin to defend it against those who would otherwise be overly critical.

The above wasn't meant as a jab towards anyone here. I'm including myself in the above description. I used to think, "I really miss the U.S." I never missed the U.S., I merely missed "Houston, TX." Had I moved anywhere else in the U.S., I'm sure I would've been just as uncomfortable.

People are naturally resistant to change. We like what we know. But sometimes change can be a good thing. :)

I agree with you dpx. Funny how that works.

I think we all make choices, and I really began to understand that last summer. Mostly when Mike and I moved out of the inlaws, it was my choice to stay here. He was willing to move to PA with me, or anywhere that was relatively close to his job, but I chose this apartment. If I was really miserable, I wouldn't have stayed, if I was truly miserable, I would have left. We can complain all we want about something but we continue to do that every day, then surely there must be some positives in there. It took me quite a while to understand that, I wanted to complain because it was easy to complain. Its easier to complain than it is to change.

If it is truly awful where we are, we wouldn't choose to stay... unless of course we are masochists. :P

There are negatives surrounding everything, but equal positives as well. I could make a list of both regarding every place I have lived back home and here. But when the negatives outweigh the positives, its time for change.

I completely agree with you on that one. The last move I made was from farther north to Kingston. My dad is army so he had the opportunity for this posting but almost turned it down because he didn't want to uproot us. He didnt realize how much we truely hated where we were though. It was time for us to move and we all wanted to go, no point staying where you hate it if you have the choice to move.

Yeah I went to school there. I was in Marshall Park, then Silver Birches, then West Ferris, moved at the end of grade 11 to kingston. Lived there about 7 years total.

Go trojans.

I went to Ferris too!

Before that it was our lady of fatima for a year of 8th grade. I had just moved to North Bay from Toronto because my mom transferred her schooling from U of T to Nipissing.

I was there from 93-95 and then I moved back to Toronto.

I loved Ferris as an actual school, hated NB with a passion though. Small military town that was way too cliquey. I didn't even fit in with most of the military kids..blech.
