Which point of entry is best?

Soon I will purchase my fiancee's airline ticket. She is coming from Cambodia and this is her first flight. She will also be traveling alone. I have many deciding factors as to which airline. Price of course, is an issue, but also her POE. Is there a better point of entry? I am also looking at the time from when she enters the US and when she leaves for my city. How long does it typically take to complete her POE procedures? I don't want to schedule that too close and she misses her flight!

no one is particularly better than any other per se.... a less busy POE will be quicker but may not be convenient... 3-4 hours layover probably is a good rule of thumb

YMMV

Houston took 15 minutes to clear.

If she is coming alone and does not speak English or some dialect of Spanish, there is no good POE.

not true, interpreters in many dialects are available and or on call at ALL POE's... They deal with visitors from all over the world every day

YMMV

IMO, closest POE to final destination is a good rule-of-thumb.

This is just my opinion based on my experience but from asia I'd chose

1. Honolulu (or Guam then Honolulu if on Continental)

2. San Francisco

3. Los Angees

4. Portland

5. Seattle (which I'd avoid at all costs)

If you are flying PAL (Philippine Airlines) then I'd put Las Vegas at 3 or 4.

I came through Seattle as my CR1 POE and didn't have any problems. About the same as Portland and Honolulu in my opinion (which I came through on VWP)

Sound advice

The time of arrival will most likely affect the experience too - maybe it's better if she arrives early in the a.m. or late at night. Good luck!
