Philippines passport-Maiden Name

Hi everyone. My wife, infant son and myself are traveling to the Phils in May. My wife has her green card and Phils passport. However, her passport is still in her maiden name. If we bring her green card, certified copy of marriage certificate and her passport are we ok? Also we will be in the Phils for almost 3 weeks. Any chance NSO might get her name change on her passport completed while we are there? God Bless.

NSO don't process passport she needs to go to DFA for it and since you'll be there she might want to renew it (if its going to be expire soon) because DFA requires personal appearance now for the machine readable passport and its hard to do that here in US if you are far from the consulate.Don't forget to bring along with you your baby's birth certificate/his passport and your marriage certificate like what you have said.you'll be ok.have a safe trip.

If your wife wants to use her married surname she needs to submit a report of marriage abroad also since you were married here in US right?I did it last year and was lucky I made it before they announce that applicants should make personal appearance at the consulate. They should have sub-offices in every state if that's the case soon hopefully.

Your wife should have at least ammended her passport after she got married. She needs to go to the nearest Philippine Embassy in your area and apply for passport or at least request for amendment. You have 3 months to do this prior to your travel to avoid any problems in the future....Neither any members here is an expert so, better to be prepared.

Philippines does not care if your wife is a greencard holder.

There is no problem even though your wife's passport is still in maiden name. Just take with you the marriage certificate and and the her advance parole paper...

regarding passport renewal, 3weeks is enough if you are in manila area...the expedite processing minimum number of days is 7 working days followed by 10 working days...but if you are in province not enough because it takes more than a month...in changing her name to NSO as married name it will take 6months...

No problems with us, passport in maiden name, green card in married name, marriage certificate. Just make sure you purchase the ticket with the name on the passport to save yourself hassles.

while your here have your wife apply for a new passport in her married name at the nearest DFA, it will only take 10-15 days..

i keep planning to amend my passport but i still havent done it lol... always procrastinating... anyways, i have been to phil twice using my maiden name passport and it was ok... i just brought marriage cert w/ me... my poe back to the US went fine also. no problem at all. except one thing when the immigration couldnt find our name in their system, and it end up under my maiden name, and they also put my hubby's name under my maiden name too. lol... we just all laugh for the mishap... it was the korean staff's fault when she checked our name in korea... happy trip and wish you luck!!! God bless!

I took Claudeth to the Filipino consulate here in LA. What an experience! All the forms you had for the petition, take them with you and copies of each page. I had to go down stairs about six times to keep getting copies of this and that document made rather then them telling me everything I needed all at once. They sure know about red tape :P
