Applying for EAD with AOS (Renewal or NEW?), maybe AP

We're beginning the AOS application process. I have a question about which box to check for application for the EAD.

He has the I-94 Work Authorization stamp and it will expire soon (at which point he will discontinue working for his current employer). I do not understand if this is considered as an initial EAD in that he must check off the "renewal EAD" or if we are actually applying for a NEW EAD "permission to accept employment".

I am thinking we are applying for a NEW EAD. Correct?

Code ( c ) ( 9 ), correct?

Dotting all i's and crossing all t's..

Also, we weren't going to apply for AP because I think (when approved) it's just permission to travel outside of the States and return while his AOS is pending... but now I ponder if it actually is needed during his 2-year conditional card? Is it worth it to apply for AP as it is included as part of the $1010 one-fee package?

Thank you!

The EAD he got on entry is a temp EAD and is not renewable. so Yes it is a new EAD and the correct catagory is C9. There is no additional charge for filing for the AP so you may as well file for it just incase he needed to travel in an emergancy. Once he has been approved for AOS the AP is no longer needed.

The original authorization is based on what would have been an application under classification A6. This is not renewable. Your new one will be based on the I-485 application class C9

YMMV
