Hello, I have a question I am about to do a I-134 avidavid and I have been a W2 employee in previous years and starting in January I found a new 1099 Job.. What supporting documents would I need to show along with I-134 ??? Thanks!

A 1099 is a earnings statement

From the Embassy

7. EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT FOR FIANCE(E) VISA APPLICANTS: Any evidence from your American spouse/fiancé(e) which will show the consular officer that you and members of your family who will accompany you will not become public charges while in the United States. Documentation regarding financial support can be in any form – preferably one year of tax returns, W-2s, bank statements, earning statements, letters from employers. PRESENTING ONLY THE AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT I-134 FORM IS NOT SUFFICIENT. The I-864 form is not required for a fiancé(e) visa.

Best is to get tax transcripts from IRS. They are more valid than returns.

How so? both are accepted evidence.... nothing indicates that one is better than the other

A person can submit a copy of their tax returns to USCIS without even have filed with IRS. Easy to fake. Tax transcripts from IRS show you filed with them.

I wouldn't be surprised if USCIS started requiring tax transcripts in the near future.

If you mean you started this 1099 THIS January, last month, you will not have a 1099 to present until next year.

Give them your 2008 tax return, bank letter, w-2s, and a statement from your current (cotract) employer to explain your current income along with copies of check stubs from now until the time of the interview. No problem. Get the bank letter as close to the interview date as you can. Yes, a 1099 is absolutely a statement of earnings and is absolutely accepted as proof of income.

maybe so, but that is why you also attach W-2's, et al... however until such time that they only change the requirement one is no more valid that the other... any other conclusion is only opinion not based on fact

You don't have to attach W2s or 1099s if you submit tax transcripts!

and your point? How does not change or affect anything in the validity arena? If you want to opine on preference or ease that is one thing... but you have failed to demonstrate any difference in validity.
