Hello Everybody,

I just find this forum a couple of days ago, and I've just finished reading all the posts.

I know the journey from living with an abuser spouse to an approved vawa petition, I've been there. I'll never forget the day when my case was finally approved. I had a six pack that evening, I truly deserved it. :innocent:

Here is my vawa timeline:

2008-april-10 Receipt date

2008-april-14 NOA- Establishment of prima facie case

2009-february-9 Extension of prima facie

2009-april-8 NOA Approval notice

They did not ask any additional evidence, although there was no physical abuse, and the case depended only on statements from my friends, relatitves and my social worker.

An excellent attorney was working on my case, which took her to put it togeter about a year. The wait was worth it, as the result shows.

I do not recommend to anybody working on vawa petition without a lawyer. I find mine in New York through an immigration advocacy services - they recommended the IN MOTION. They are lawyers, social workers and most importantly: nonprofits.

I did not pay a penny so far, even though they deserve the best pay.

It took two years, but it's ok - compare to the abuse, that took several years.

Anyway.

My question is:

Since I'm moving forward, my lawyer filed for AOS this June. For some reason my case is in the National Benefits Center (MSC) in Missouri.

Why?

Is there any difference processing AOS between "plain" marriage-case vs. based on an approved vawa petition?

We filed for EAC separately in March, I already have it along with my SSN.

Now I'm working and living here legally at least!!! :star:

Good Luck for everybody

and

DON'T QUIT BEFORE THE MIRACLE HAPPENS!!!!

InMotion provides free legal services to low-income, battered immigrant women who seek to become legal residents of the United States. We provide free information about the law and how and under what circumstances applications can be made to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

So the free legal service is called InMotion. am I right.

Hello Everybody,

Yes, Honest, You are absolutely right. Here is their website: www.inmotiononline.org. They are professionals, “top of their game” - they won’t take cases that “doesn’t worth the effort”.

I contacted them around 2006 November, we filed the petition in 2008 April, and it got approved in 2009 April. They have lot of cases; they are working slowly, but only for one reason: when they putting yours together, they are ABSOLUTELY THOROUGH. That takes time.

I remember the nerve wrecking years; I had to go through the abuse again and again at the interviews with my lawyer. I was sick from the stress twice; both illnesses lasted for three months. That was very scary.

I remember the sleepless nights, when I was thinking: “why don’t I just give up the whole thing? I could go someplace else, someplace, where my past won’t haunt me anymore. I was near the breaking point many-many times … but I know that GOD WON’T GIVE ME A CROSS THAT I CAN’T CARRY!

Time-to-time I felt I can not function anymore in my everyday life. I felt I can not go forward at my job – I was working illegally in a restaurant as a waitress, where my boss took advantage of my situation and abused me sexually. I didn’t press charges, thinking: WHO WOULD BELIEVE ME? The same misery coming for me, TWICE … ?

But I know: what comes around - goes around.

I feel your pain guys, specially the ones whom are still waiting ... for an approval, or a denial …

But I recommend something that could ease the pain: think – as Dr Seuss said – that you are at the “waiting place”. The place where you do nothing, just wait. It happens in life. But while you are waiting, you are getting stronger by the day.

If you are honest with yourself, you will get what you’ll have to get. It could be anything. And move forward. Accept it, because God has a plan for you. You can work against it, but that journey will take you to the wrong place.

Anyway.

EWTN2009 – thank you for the warm welcoming.

I already feel like I have a family here – after I read all the posts, that you guys dare to share when you are intimidated by the “SYSTEM”.

BUT ONE MORE VERY IMPORTANT THING:

If you really into this journey: look up, search, seek an attorney, whom has the knowledge to accomplish your goals. For example: I had my fingerprint taken and had the FBI clearance attached to my case … If my lawyer didn’t ask me to get it done, I probably wouldn’t do it.

Little things matters.

There are charities, non profit organizations and so on everywhere.

I’m waiting for the next step after my bio, I hope it won’t take a long time … I’m eager to go back home, see my family after 7 years.

Keep up praying everyone, keep your heart open, and you’ll be all right!!!

Good Luck!!!
