Hey Yahya, whats up? Just relax don't get anxious....You will definitely get a decision soon within 60 days of your RFE acknowledgment of receipt by VSC. I don't think I am going to request for extension of my Prima Facie again, am just going to wait for a decision. I don't need Prima Facie anyways. Its a waste of time asking for an extension. Am going to wait, I know decision is coming it might not be right now as I expected, because if you bothered this people in VSC too much they will delay your decision, mark your petition for further investigation or even make it worse for you. my thoughts for you is this be patient, I know its not easy. I want this approval as bad as you want it but I have to exercise patience. Goodluck!

Hi Victoryismine

I read your post somewhere where VSC hd asked you RFE for abuse. I got the same letter and sent the reply on 05-06-2010.

my question is where do you check the status where it shows application touched .

please tell me.

You sign up at the USCIS webpage. Their you can see the touches if they are being put in which is not always the case. You have to create an account, you can sign up for email updates and text updates.

Good luck

Hello everyone,

I'm new here and I'm just about to start to file for a VAWA case for myself. Could anyone advise me if I have to hire a lawyer for this. I prefered not because I couldn't afford it. Has anyone experienced of filing their case by doing it themselves and without a lawyer?

Please help. I will highly appreciate all advises.

Thank you and God Bless everyone in your quests!

Hi, you can do this on your own believe me you can. As long as you can read and write you can. The burden of proof is on you. I filed in 2005 and I was approved and I did everything all on my own. The lawyers tried to tell me my case was a difficult one and they also wanted me to pay alot of money but I prayed about it and decided to do it on my own. My case had a child involved and I had intitially filed as married to a USC and had to change everything in the middle of my ex-husband's petition because of the abuse. It was alot but I did it and so can you!! Please email me anytime if there any information I can help with.

Good luck and know that we are here to help anyway we can and never to judge you!!

I SO highly appreciate your attention to my message! Thank you so much for your advice. I'm in the middle of divorce from my abusive husband and an immigration lawyer adviced me that I cannot apply for self petition (Vawa) if the divorce is not yet final, so wait. My soon to be ex (can't wait) abuser husband is doing all kinds of delay tactics knowing we have no children or property to fight for ,yet the divorce is taking now almost 9 months. He filed for my petition on Nov.2009 but abandoned the case in the middle of it and threathened to deport me and became very abusive. I finally got a restraining order against him and now out of the relationship. Thank God! In my heart, I believe that I can do this, like you said, since I also have all the evidences needed in this case. But acccording to the immigration lawyer I couldn't file for VAWA bec the divorce is not yer final. By waiting in this divorce case, I ran out of money. I'm in my dire situation. I'm so much behind my rent. I'm not working because couldn't work until I have of course the work permit. Just trying so hard to get by day by day. I couldn;t afford a lawyer.

I'm taking your advice and started gathering all my paperworks, read the instructions fr. USCIS.gov website, and did more research online and some idea I got fr. this site on how to file the case myself. Before I finalize and submit everything to USCIS VT, I would want to go to the Catholic Charities and perhaps they could assist me with my filing.I'm sure this will encourage me as well and never to lose my hope. It's about time to file this myself and not be misled by other lawyers who are just money hunger and taking advantage of people's vulnerability.

Many thanks again for the confirmation, Langa!!! HAPPY TO HEAR THAT YOU MADE IT! :star: Did you get your citizenship already?!?!? 'Hope so! oh btw, quick quest: What are the things that I need to submit for proof of Good Moral Character? Thanks in advance for your reply.

For everyone who are still waiting and made it through the end ... 'know that "All things work together for good to those who puts their trust in God! Very soon I will be posting my case journey here! TAKE CARE!!!

hi never file it ALONE .u will be in trouble .look for association who deal with this kind of vawa carefully .on YOUR SIDE u just need to help them with the evidences u have that all .if u do it by ur self u gona have descrepancies and consistency .of the many thing u never know or imagine .the story must be good documented with phisical and independence evidences ,credible evidences like affidavits most of the times not working and not have any value if u cant prove the affidavits on ur behalf bu independence evidences. dont send any piece of paper until u stay the whole night understand what is the outcome of that paper( evidence) if wil be favorable for ur case or against u .

uscis is aware of the story and anything on the case .they see the unfavorable factors against the favorable factors and see the wieght of the case .keep ur self just for gathering the documents u need only .dont file or send anything without representative on ur case .if u involve other people on the case .uscis will give important of what u claim remember .if u are acting alone on i-360 . U drive car without insurance .Off-Topic2.gif .

u should always be careful about work history will impact ur i-485 interview as well .try to get work permit .there is no waiver out of 180 days unauthorisatio employment .

You immigration attorney he is wrong you can still file for vawa while you still married and if you approve the abuse you can expedite your vawa because you still live with abuser

Thanks Kwala for the advise. I'm going to see a representavive from a Catholic Charities who deals with Immigration matters. I cannot afford a private lawyer I 'm totally broke! I hope with everyone's experiences and by helping one another here without judging we all make it either way.

Thank you Yahyah54 - that's exactly what I think!

Be Blessed everyone!!!
