You guys are knocking that list, but the contries/societies that follow that nutritional food regime have incredibly low cancer rates... compared to the US where everyone drinks pop/juices, loads up on steaks, and wonders why their ####### can only fit in a suv.

There's nothing wrong with common-sense nutritional advice - but the claims that are being made in relation to it curing cancer go a bit beyond that.

Cancer has genetic triggers as well - even if you live healthily you can still get it.

And viral, and bacterial... and some research suggests even emotional. Go figure.

And environmental... (chemical... dietary... etc)

In other words - a lot is not known.

In which respect giving people false hope is pretty cruel, and (likely) the domain of cynical charlatans seeking to make a quick buck from someone else's problems.

My issue with it is the false claim that it came from John Hopkins. There are plenty of credible sources regarding nutrition and cancer....there's need for shysters to convolute what might otherwise be sound nutritional advice.

By no means do I think that any nutrional/diet changes should be considered as "treatment". I think if you have a healthy lifestyle, with the nutional aspect mentioned in the article (like low sugar, less meat, more veggies) your immune system will be more prepared to fight with the challenges it faces.

I'm not so concerned if it comes from John Hopkins or my neighbors aunt, sounds like sound advice to help your immune system. Anyone sick should research any changes to their diet/treatment.

There's nothing wrong with the advice - simply the fact that its mixed up with falsehoods about its effect cancer growths in the body.

There's plenty of good nutritional and lifestyle advice out there - it doesn't mean we should jump on a feel-good bandwagon for this particular message.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Just as a quick fact re: sugar causing cancer because it feeds cancer cells - well, digestion of all carbohydrates which includes everything from simple sugars through to complex carbohydrates like whole grains is broken down by the body's digestive system into simple glucose strands. This is the primary fuel source for ALL of the body's cells. The digestive process breaks down food into glucose which is carried by the blood through the body's system and used by the various body cells for energy. Insulin is the hormone that allows the body cells to access and utilize the sugar that is provided by food sources. Failure of the body to make insulin (type 1 diabetes) or to recognize and use insulin effectively (type 2 diabetes) prevents cells from absorbing glucose (sugar) from the blood. So, just to repeat - all carbohydrates are broken down by digestion in the body into sugar -glucose - which is then used as the fuel source by the body for all cellular metabolism. Sugar feeds cancer cells but it also feeds every other cell in the body. Too much sugar doesn't encourage cancer to spread faster - it just makes you fat as the excess sugar is stored for future use.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Well... yes... ( :star: )

But-

Gene expression profiles of cancerous cells shows that the genes encoding carbohydrate metabolism are massively upregulated (turned on at much higher levels than non-cancer cells) to the point that cancer cells are known as sugar sponges. In fact, gene profiles for cancer cells tend to be biased towards incrementation of nutrient absorption and metabolism in order to increase the available nutrient load for a rapidly-expanding cell population.

I'm not going to argue for the merits of this particular article, but some folks here are outright dismissing legitimate alternative therapies that exist. Some dramatic diet plans do exist supported by reputable medical doctors. The minister that married my now ex-husband and I recovered from stage 3 prostate cancer with one such diet. He said his skin turned orange in the process and was tired of eating the vegetable slurry, but it worked for him. No chemo or radiation, just the diet.

And unfortunately, chemo and radiation don't work for many cancers out there. My former mother-in-law didn't stand a chance with those therapies with her ovarian cancer.

I understand that people like to pop pills and inject themselves with stuff, but don't dismiss something just because it's something you can control yourself or you're not familiar with.

No they aren't. The only criticisms that have been offered in this thread are in relation to the article that the OP posted.
