The green card will allow you to work and reside anywhere in the US as long as it is still valid.Your EAD will arrive first then your GC a week after.Timeframe..it depends where you filed if in California they are alot faster 4-6 months.Good luck to you and once you have your green card you don't have to renew your EAD just the green card when the time comes to renew it.

I received my EAD first with my Advance Parole. Now, Im still waiting for my Green card.

You can look at my AOS timeline below.

Once you receive your EAD, you are legally authorized to work eventhough you have not received your Green card yet. Just make sure you applied for your SSN too.

Hope that helps.

Take Care. God bless. :innocent:

having problems understanding the drivers license requirements. she arrived in september, married in december, went to get DL today, Feb 2.

North Carolina DMV....they are not sure that they can give her one. .....so they copied all her documents and sent them to the mother ship in Raleigh, NC.

ANYONE know what's needed to get the drivers permit, or temp permit to drive?

One more governmental stall.

Our AOS paperwork sent about one week ago, so that is done as well..

Thanks

It will vary from state to state. If the state subscribes to the Real ID Act, the Driver's License/ID Card will be issued for the term of the document authorizing the alien to legally stay in the US. In your case, the EAD will be required, and the state ID will expire when the EAD expires. When you receive your conditional green card, then you can renew the state ID to expire when the green card expires, etc. California, and most states will copy the documents you provide them and submit them to the state legal department for verification with the DHS/USCIS. The verification can take up to two months. In the meantime, you may be issued a "non-verified" temporary Driver's License/ID Card.

You can check from your DMV office for the requirements and get a drivers manual for her so she can study and be prepared for the test.Does she have her SSN yet? They want to see a green card first I think before they issue a learners permit/State ID

I think i understand. The examiner or DMV employee, i believe, was confused as his written instructions called out a NOA with no end date. I am not sure what to do now. I believe that the EAD, once received, will be the ticket. She has studied the DMV book, i just want to get her driving so that then her EAD arrived, we are ready to look for employment.

Thanks

From the DMV:

4. Social Security Card Requirement:

When making application for an original identification card, learners permit or driver license, it is required that you present DMV with a valid Social Security card. If you are not eligible for a Social Security card, you must provide documentation issued by the United States Government indicating legal presence.

Most states give a list of acceptable documents.
