Hi everyone, congratulations to any recent approvals. i have a question, im still at the early stage, waiting on my I-130 approval, hopefully by next month. i have noticed with the country of GHANA mostly, that applicants are waiting anywhere from 4-6months for an interview,(after their approval) then are put into AP, then are rescheduled for a 2nd and even 3rd interview. can someone please explain to me why this happens and why is it mostly for the GHANA petitioners. whats going on or not going on at that embassy.

Im following the tracking and its very obvious. as you can see from my timeline, im also a GHANA petitioner so im kind of worried.

thanks so much for any response. Prayers to those still waiting. Van

The interview wait is so long because there are (1) a lot of people applying through Ghana and (2) they do not really have the staff to accommodate all the petitions that come in. In addition, Accra is one of the places that waivers are adjudicated. It just adds to the work load.

AP is administrative processing. It happens when there is information missing from your application, or they need to do more background checks.

I don't know why it is that a lot of couples from Ghana are being put into AP. The good news is that unlike some other countries, Ghana will give you a second interview notice. Its not like some other places where you are put in AP and told to wait until the consulate contacts you.

The reasons for AP in Ghana are normally for missing information of the relationship. Make sure that you send everything you can to prove your relationship with your SO, even if you do not think it is necessary. Do not give them a reason to tell you that they need to delay your case.

Thanks Zee, i appreciate your response, i was wondering if AP meant lack of evidence or something missing in your packet. . im getting everything together on my end, if i can only get my husband to EMAIL me, we talk twice a day everyday, i have plenty of phone records, but he hates going to the cafe and EMAILING. do you think that this will be an issue as far as showing proof of relationship. ive already received a RFE they requested another 2x2 photo of MYSELF with my name written this time in PENCIL. they didnt ask for a new photo of my husband, even though both of our photos were written on the back with BLACK FELT PEN, as the application states. so im now nervous about another RFE coming for him, which will slow us down a few weeks, because he's in ghana. so im keeping my fingers crossed.

im not sure if you remember me, but you and i were both in Accra around the same time during the summer, I was getting married. im happy all worked out great for you. thanks again. van

Of course I remember you :)

I always tell people to have as much hard evidence as possible. I think you should make it a point to e-mail each other at least once a week if not more. Remind him that it is only for the duration of the visa process, then you can go back to your old ways. Send cards and letter in the mail as well. In our case they did not accept phone records (but still send those records to the interview, you never know). They wanted e-mails, pictures and letters/cards we had sent to each other. We only had like 10, so I did not think it was necessary, but in the end that is what they wanted.

Why not have your SO send you pics right now, so if you do get an RFE you'll be ready? Just a thought.
