becca, feel for you here, it is always hard to leave somewhere you have been for so long and especially when there has been a breakdown of marriage and kids are involved but kids are so resiliant and have a habit of bouncing back when you least expect it.

it will be wonderful for you and Wes to have somewhere "of your own", but with your son included

As Sukie said , go for it  hope you find a beautiful new home and find great delight and fun in doing it all up together, again son included

Becca,

I was thinking back on how I felt when my Mom put their house on the market after my Dad died . I knew that my mother could not keep up a garden and 13 acres by herself and yet I selfishly ( at age 32 ) hated to see it go. It was just a difficult time for all of us, but I understood the reason it had to be done.

I'm sure Zach is just trying to get adjusted to all the changes going on in his life now...and we all know that growing up is difficult! As others have mentioned, it is just something familiar to him and it's hard to let go of something " comfortable " to you.

You have to do what is best for the entire family. I think you are very wise in your decision to keep yourself financially stable and do what is necessary. I'm sure you will find something new that you will all like!

Sorry to hear of your dilemma, but your son is probably at an age where like most they are somewhat selfish to their own needs, time will heal his concerns to you selling, soon he will be off to pastures new and the future for you and Wes will be kinda cemented in a new home. Get excited get motivated your financial status will also become more stable, look forward to decorating and furnishing your new home together, even allow your son to have a say in his new bedroom decor. Your happiness is paramount with Wes, your son will not stop loving your over some bricks and mortar.

(didn't realise I sounded like an agony aunt lol)

Best wishes David and Bess

Good luck on your selling the home, finding another and moving. I personally know it is a big decision and that in the long run everyone should be happy. Your son will come around if he is given a say in how to fix his new room.

Hugs,

Mary
