Calling USCIS as well as VSC is just going to get you this answer:

"On ________ (fill in your NOA1 date here) we received your petition. We are currently processing petitions from April 1st"

Don't waste your time. Find your local field office and make an appointment and speak to a human being. They can tell you if your petition is undergoing security checks, is assigned to an adjudicator, or sitting around collecting dust...if you're lucky, they could even tell you if it's just been approved!

Good Idea! If I don't get approved by month's end...I will ask my hubby to book an infopass appointment at the local field office.

Yeah, why not? The officer was able to see that my hubby was here before and that for this reason they were checking to make sure he never overstayed his VW. He also saw where hubby was born and then said, "Oh, well then that's probably why it took so long." You know the US and Muslim men...they have to do more extensive background checks. It was such a relief that someone could actually see what was going on. He even told me that the adjudicator was working on my file at 6:49AM. He was like, "Yeah, they must be working overtime if they're working on it that early." Such a great stress relief from hearing, "We're currently processing April 1st"...
