hello again!

i had a question about sending in my original marriage certificate with the ds-230. i only have my original and no certified copies. and the government in afghanistan doesn't have a copy of the marriage certificate, just in their records that my husband and i are married. would it be okay to send in a copy of my marriage certificate and a letter explaining the situation? i'm not sure if they'll give the marriage certificate back to my husband when he goes to the interview.

It was always recommended to not send originals of anything to the USCIS, they keep what you send.

That's not always the case. CR/IRs are REQUTRED to send originals to NVC. They also are supposed to return them at the embassy interview.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

I made some color copies of the marriage certificate and mailed those in, figuring they wouldn't know the difference. My wife took the original with her to the interview in case they asked, but it was not an issue.

Well, so far from everyone who's been through the whole process, does NVC always return the WHOLE package for the interview? Or do they often lose stuff on the way? I can understand her worry.
