I went to the bank to get the statement for the I-134 (which might be too early considering our case isn't estimated to be approved until June)...

The guy gave me a letter that specifies date open, current balance, and average balance over last 12 months. It doesn't show total amount deposited for the past year, which the I-134 calls for.

Did anyone else experience this, and if so, was it a big deal?

If anyone else has Chase, please let me know how you got the total amount deposited for the past year.

It is no big deal, but you will need 12 months worth of bank statements to show consistent deposits, I have B of A, they provided the same letter, minus the deposits for the last year.

I have online access, I just printed my statements at home.

moving from K-1 general discussion to

US Embassy and Consulate General Discussion

You are almost there and now you have to deal with the embassy. This is the place to post your experiences or questions related to this last step before moving to the US. Topics relating to I-134's, packets sent from consulate and medical & police certificates should be posted here.

YMMV

It is too early. Wait until you get your NOA2, at least.

In my case, I wrote the letter myself and stated exactly what I wanted it say, do not leave it up to them. Take it to the bank, hand it to the Vice Preseident and say "Please type exactly this on your letterhead and sign it" You have an account there. You are entitled to a letter giving information about your account, written in the manner YOU choose. As long as everything the letter says is true, they really cannot deny this to you. Do not ask them, TELL them. "here it is, type it and sign it" Be sure to say "please".

The VP at my bank (actually "branch President") said "Um...ok, I need to verify your figures first" No problem ma'am, I will wait right here while you do that, thank you" Be sure to say "thank you"

The letter should state when you opened the account, that the account is in good standing (hopefully it is) and the amount of deposits made from _____to _____. Then say "current balance as of ________ is _______. Pick a date when your balance looked real good. Do not use averaging unless it is to your benefit. Take these numbers from the "deposits" listed on your statements. It is easy, each statement shows "deposits" as a single number for each statement period. Add them up for as long a period as you like and there you go. The Branch President asked why I picked that date, I said "It looks good for me" Again, as long as it is true, and you the customer request them to release this information, they really cannot refuse.

As a little incentive for the former teller that is now the Branch President, address the letter to the consulate in the country you will go to. If they object, tell them it is "For an I-134 for the US embassy in_______ and this is exactly the format required to be submitted"
