I-485 SIGNATURE

Hello!

The I-485 form ask for your name and your signature, but should I change my signature because my new last name or should I keep using the name as it appears in my passport ? (my passport signature is my complete maiden name)

Hi,

Try to keep all documents name same , so that USCIS does not get confuse. Name on all dics should be same. Other wise if you want to use new name and signature which is different from passport then you can explain this while submitting I485 in your cover letter.

Still i suggest to have one name in all docs including your passport. Less confusion for them rapid processing.

Its common to change the last name (my wife did it too) and so she came up with a new signature also. So! If you are going to change the name - your signature should also change accordingly. Good Luck

I also changed my signature, so all the forms to the AOS had my new name.

If I need to use my passport, I'll I have to do is show my marriage certificate.

This advice is not clear in what it is proposing, so just in case there is confusion, here is my suggestion.

Use your new name and signature on the I-485, I-131, I-765 and any other documents that you submit. This way you will get your EAD and green card with your married name. Afterwards, you can then send your passport to your country's embassy for updating to your married name.
