Hey guys,

My husband and I have our AOS interview on March 11, and aren't entirely sure we'll have filed our 2008 taxes by that date. Will it be okay if we just bring my 2007 W-2s and tax return information (as I'm the US citizen and he wasn't here that year)? I figure we'll also bring our 2008 W-2s, just not the completed tax return. Could that affect his approval?

Thanks for any thoughts,

Katie

try to file before interview with what you have, and if it is not right you can amended it before 4/15

AOS from B-2

08/05/08 I-485 filed

02/03/09 CGC received

12/09/10 I-751 filed

04/07/11 GC received

11/1/11 N-400 filed

02/24/12 USC

Thanks for the input. I wrote that when we were considering filing separately (as we thought that might get us a bigger refund) but it looks like it's going to be relatively similar either way. Looks like we'll be filing it jointly and using that as evidence!

Thanks again.

I'm trying to figure this out as well...we're planning to file our return jointly for 2008 before our interview date but I had a strong feeling that filing early won't get better compared to preparing the original return and present it when it will be asked..since this will not become verifiable in IRS b'coz the due date is not until April 15th.... that's what I'm going to do...hopefully it will be considered....

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)

There is no verification beyond what you present... that is why W-2s & 1099s are required with the submission

YMMV
