Explaining your "Crazy" relationship to others

I think fear of the unknown would have been the biggest hindrance for us in approving of the relationship. Get creative in figuring out some way to let the important people in your life get to know the one you love.

We made a trip to see Thailand while our son was living and going to school there. He asked if his girlfriend could travel with us for 3 1/2 weeks. We were delighted some months later when he told us they were getting married. We would not have reacted the same way if she were a stranger. We, in turn, shared our enthusiasm with extended family and friends before she arrived and throughout the long visa process. I hope she has felt warmly welcomed as a result. Since she's been here, everyone who has met her thinks she is pretty special, even the grandparents in their eighties.

at my age now, regardless of who the person i'd be with- it doesn't take much to relay to my family about being engaged and are working our papers enable to be together for good (and foremost they trust my decision). However, i don't elaborate much on how we met coz am sure its still odd and unbelievable to them althou' they do know anyway but won't go over the details. Same with my friends here, its enough that they see me happy bcoz of this relationship.

No matter how liberal the world we think is, unless you are hearing or relaying it to someone who's in the same scenario- the meeting on line is still frown upon and connotes more negative impact rather than accepting. Also, relationships are hard enough more so if its long distance with someone of different country and culture. Well, tough luck ! coz i believe now that a relationship regardless of location, culture or upbringing- if two hearts leads the same or one path- it can be done and it will be worth the wait.

We are having great difficulties with Claudeth's family. They think they have hit easy street because Claudeth is now in America not realizing that we are suffering from the economical mess as much as the rest of the world. They want us to send money and goody boxes to them all the time and none are doing anything about earning on their own. I have dumped a ton of money into their little store but they seem to think I can just continue to subsidize them. Ugh

Why does everybody think that Americans are rich ?

i don't. my SO made that clear to me and ohh well....i've been out in my home country and seen the real life abroad isn't always more green-so to speak.

i think a lot of people have that impression due to how American life is perceive thru hollywood movies and that its the greatest nation anyway.
