Not to keep beating a dead horse (which I love to do), but why in the world should it take one year for you to be together with your wife? Security risks? Only risk I can see from Thai women is to my lower regions.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

Hey Brother USCandual et al - don't forget that we'll probably all be here when you vent over the soon-2-b-here AOS process. Wait until you get a load of that! Sheeeeeesh! I have good stories from that one as well. Scott was smart, avoided that entire process...

Plus, I have AAm's 10 year adjustment of status coming up in a few months...so I'm sure I'll be venting here also, very soon. I have been collecting papers in a box for almost 2 years now...ridiculous. Scott also wisely avoided that step as well...

Plus, I do have to admit that I'm a bit concerned about AAm's daughter, we're planning on having her CR2 interview around the end of summer...surely they wouldn't 'mess with us', considering that May's mother is here. Unfortunately, I've heard otherwise on VJ...so I'm preparing for that as well.

I guess someday, when I'm dead, I'll be done with immigration schmack...

I am a Maker's Mark guy for drink of choice...just on the rocks. What can I say? I guess it is in the name...

Peace to you USCandual/Scott/Aaron...all...

As someone who is at the last step in the process, and still waiting for a 10 yr GC, 10 months after applying for it, even though I received an approval letter last month... I'm here to tell you guys... this entire process if fvcked up!

Until your SO gets naturalized... it will never be over. Bottom line. (Two months to go for that fun process to start!)

I truly feel for each and every one of you going through BNK right now, because it certainly wasn’t like that when I went through, along with all the others at the time.

Not that it makes it any better, but ALL the application processes right now are messed up. There is no rhyme or reason to ANY of the processing times, the RFEs, the APs, or the 221gs. I wonder if it doesn’t have something to do with the fact that we have a new administration, and they haven’t filled all the top positions in the Dept of State along with Dept of Homeland Security, and that they are in a state of flux. (Just trying to come up with some sort of rationale explanation.)

Getting your SO’s to the states is by far the biggest hurdle, because after that, you will be together for the rest of the hurdles that are surely yet to come.

I read about all the problems you guys are going through, and my heart goes out to each and every one of you, and all I can do is just shake my head, and wish the best for each one of you.

Hang in there everyone, and I hope that everyone gets their visas soon.

My fiancée just called and woke me up to tell me that the new schedule was up. I answer in a fog "Hello?" "Honey, bad news, the new schedule is up and we're not on it." Like I really needed to be woken up to hear that!!

Looks like our summer wedding may need to be postponed. The interviews are scheduled through the third week of June and we were planning around the last week of July. I hope the rest of you did get interview dates.

Quick question. What is a guy that went to Liberty doing drinking whiskey?

:P

I love Liberty University! AAm and I spent last weekend there. Its in Lynchburg VA which is just a few hours from our pad. Its a fantastic city/campus. I went to Liberty for a lot of different reasons. Unlike most Libery students though, I am Catholic, and Liberty is predominantly Protestant. In fact, their goal is to be the 'Notre Dame' for the Protestants. Now that Obama has spoken at Notre Dame's commencement though  , I bet they'd like to revise that goal  . Anyways, Catholics believe that wine 'Cheers the heart' (Zech 10 <NRV/NAB>). Its one of the smaller differences between the faiths. I'm working on my Masters of Theology right now though, and I'm back at a Catholic University.

Anyways, I have nothing but praise for the good works going on at Liberty.

Peace!

Roi Aggie, don't tell me your wife's K-1 and AOS was processed any faster during the Bush Administration... I know mine wasn't!

Anyway, the snail's pace has everything to do with our fees keeping USCIS afloat. In other departments, the more $$ they get, the more of the backlog that gets tackled (hopefully). With USCIS, the more $$ they get...the more applications they get, so they never really seem to get any faster. Okay, my rant is over. :)

So there's a chance that it could take up to a year to get this visa. What a joke.

I've started to realize that it's not really the wait that bothers me (as much) it's more the fact that I have to deal with the government to get my fiancee over here. As we all know, the govt is unpredictable, generally nonsensical, and often impersonal. I guess that is true with governments of most countries though. If I knew I wouldn't have to potentially deal with B.S. at the embassy and if I felt the last leg of this process won't contain surprises that defy logic, I wouldn't mind the wait as much at all.

Edited by rsn

K1: 01/15/2009 (mailed I-129F) - 06/23/2009 (visa received)

AOS: 08/08/2009 (mailed I-485, I-765, & I-131) - 10/29/2009 (received GC)

I wouldn't count it out. We were never on any schedules that were posted on their website either.

Not to keep beating a dead horse (which I love to do), but why in the world should it take one year for you to be together with your wife? Security risks?

It is completely ridiculous to have to wait a year to be with your wife, however you can thank the millions before that have circumvented and scammed the system, and now all of us have to endure it.

As for security risks there were quite a few other countries that marry or come over just for other reasons. I have been in briefs detailing some of the scams used by foreign operatives to get information. Now with that being said, Thailand most likely had a low security risk, however the government approaches most everything with a One Shoe fits all mentality and in the case of immigration this is true on some level, but false on many others, and again we can thank the millions that have come before us that have made this process a bunch of BS.

Another thing the, worker bees may be getting direction to slow down the entire process to make it look like they are understaffed, so they can get their budget increased from the new administration, since they are just handing out money left and right to anyone that asks with or with a valid reason.

i didn't make the new list either, which doesn't really surprise me. some people have a waited a lot longer then I. Don't worry to much, I don't think there has been anyone on this forum from Thailand, that has been flat out denied. They have just had to jump through a couple more hoops.
