Update for all of us waiting to get interviews scheduled. I spoke with Thanti this morning. The word from the Thai website usvisa4thai is that things may be moving at the Embassy finally. One case that had its Packet 3 received by the embassy just before ours, in early April, got their Packet 4 in the mail. Their interview date is in mid-May!!! Meaning that once they send out the P-4 apparently the interviews are being scheduled very quickly from that point on, just a week or two of notice. Exciting! Maybe we still have a shot at a late May or early June interview.

The other interesting thing is that the interview was scheduled for an afternoon timeslot, rather than the usual 7am / 7:30am type of slot. We're speculating that the embassy is trying to clear the backlog by doing double shifts and scheduling afternoon interviews to catch up. Maybe we're finally getting some good news!! Good luck to all........

Honey --- when you see this post maybe you can update here with more real-time info? It seems the Thai website has better intelligence sources than we do on VJ for this stage of the process.

Hi Ladywhite

The aquarium is called the Shedd Aquarium........ haven't gone inside any of the three. I've vowed to myself that I'm waiting for Thanti to get here and then we'll do the tour of all attractions together.

Hi, Uscandual, thanks for refreshing my memories. It's been more than a decade and I spent only a weekend there in Chicago. Yes, it's Shedd Aquarium, which I enjoyed tremendously. I am sure, even though I do not know Chanti personally, that she'll enjoy Shedd a lot.

Yes, it is the Chicago River. My office building is right next to the river....... The cruise you took is probably the architectural cruise where the guides point out all the stunning architectural landmarks of the Loop.

Yes, it sounds like it. The water looked green, as far as I recall and there was a guide talking about stuff, which I remember vaguely. I think it's what you said - all the stunning architectural landmarks and buildings along the river.

I'm looking forward to doing it again when ... you all know who... gets here :P

You sounds very much in love. It's a good thing -- very very good thing.

I prefer Chicago to NYC too. The only city (in my humble opinion) that rivals Chicago for architecture, fun, friendliness, food, attractions is Toronto. I really think Toronto is a smashing city.

Chicago appeared safer, cleaner, and less crowded to me when I was there, compared to NYC. Is it still that way? I've been to Toronto once when I lived in Detroit (by crossing Detroit River to Windsor and then drove to Toronto. My friends and I stopped at Niagara falls on that trip). Unfortunately, I again didn't have much time exploring the city.

Anyway, if any of you are ever in the Windy City by all means give me a holler and we'll get together.

Thank you. I will remember you if my hubby and I ever get a chance to go up to Chicago. We are in Destin, FL. When my hubby goes on a work-related trip, it is almost always DC that he goes to. So, if I get to go with him, maybe it's Mark that I should contact !! :)

Hope to hear your good news soon!!!

Have question? My wife came on a k1visa and we married and filed for adjustment green card. She got approved yesterday for her green card. Now here is the question we were at the same time applying for a k2 visa for her 9 year old son. He hasnt gone to the embassy yet for his k2 visa. Will this be a problem because she is now a green card holder?? not have k1 status no more

Thank you

Not a problem. K2 has to be issued within 1 year of receiving the K1. Start at the packet 3 stage. (unless something has changed in the last year) My wife had applied for her green card and had only received the advanced parole document when she went back to Thailand for her daughter's k2 interview. The green card ended up being issued after my wife was in Thailand and about 1 month before her daughter's interview.

Hope this makes sense.

Good Luck

Two separate cases. The fact your wife received her green card has no bearing on her son's K-2 application.

FOlks, ias been very exciting to follow your adventures and see all the hope in your hearts.

Rest assured all will go well as life unfolds.

I must pop smoke and go. it seams I am not the only one for this girl and being back-up at best does not portend well for the future. I'll keep trying.

Am I to understand that your fiancée may have another man? The first Thai woman I dated I had met only 3 weeks after first arriving for the first year. I was fresh out of college and was teaching freshman Remedial English. My girlfriend was a friend of my friend's date. We both came along as backup but ended up hooking up. I should have known better when she said "I do not mind if I am not the only one, I just want to be number one for you." I said "You're one and only!" and she giggled in response. Ironically, she ended up studying at my university three years later, and my jaw dropped when I first saw her standing there in the typical black and white Thai university uniform. I do not regret my relationship with her though, because she certainly introduced me to Bangkok along with Thai language, culture, cuisine, etc. If this does appear to be the case with you, I wish you all the best and hope you can find a trustworthy Thai lady.

If anyone is interested in meeting a few Thai ladies, my fiancée knows several in her village. Some speak English well while a couple hardly speak a word. One is a teacher and another a nurse. Let me know if you have a friend who would want to give it a try.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!
