Did you see during the time when he gave up the massage parlor business to get into politics? He had a whole display set up with a big bathtub representing the business. He took this huge sledge hammer to it. Some great photos of it in the Bangkok Post.

That's actually how I know that guy. They had posters of him with the sledgehammer all over Bangkok. I was asking the girl. "Who is this guy?" The cops kidnapped him for 2 days. He went and read a list of every police captain he has paid. How he is still alive.... I don't know.

Yes, I remember when those posters went up too. People had vandalized them by giving him a fu-man-chu beard and glasses. I also recall him naming names and providing a detailed list of all the services they received. He obviously must have some more dirt that he's threatened to reveal if anything happens to him.

I remember also reading about him running for Bangkok governor, but haven't heard anything since. Is he still in politics? Didn't he form his own party?

If I remember right, he was the leader of Chart Thai for awhile, but was forced to step down for some reason. I think he came in second for BKK gov.

Well, at least now this thread has finally gotten interesting!

Anyone wanna offer a comparison of Nana vs Cowboy?

There is a club in the basement of the Siam Square Novatel called CM2 (Siam Squared). My friends affectionately called it "The Black Hole." It has live bands, many farang men and many young Thai ladies. This one friend loved to bring guests from America there, just to show them the raunchiness of Bangkok. I went once and couldn't handle it. I love the cultural side of Thailand, as mentioned in the above post, but this part of it turns my stomach. When my father saw the beer bars in Patong beach, Phuket, he shook his head and said "Sad. I really feel for these girls."

A little known fact is that the international market is relatively small compared to the local one. One study reported that over 40% of Thai men frequent brothels on a monthly basis. At Chiang Mai Univeristy, for example freshmen boys all go together as a form of initiation. Men who can afford it take mai noi (mistresses), while many of those who cannot afford it go to the brothels. Even tiny towns far off the tourist trail have local services.

I know CM2. I think my ex is still free-lancing there. BTW it's mia noi. I wish I could afford one. Bad farang!

Cowboy is much better than Nana. Nana is barely one rung above patpong, which is scary. I hear they have both been pretty empty lately. Economy sucks.

I've been about 100 yards away from Cowboy (Asoke / Sukhumvit) for 7 days now. Cant say I even had an inkling to go. On the other hand all the beautiful girls walking around the Zen mall are something else. Good thing I'm in love. :)

Its my last few hours in Bangkok. Chada and I are having lunch with a VJ / SO then we are heading out to Koh Samet. for 4 days. I like Bangkok but will LOVE to be someplace else. We come back Friday and I'll jump on a plane for Dallas. Sadly it will be the last time in BKK for 2 - 3 years. We agreed to do a combined a Thai wedding/sin sod/vacation on our next trip. The secret is we will be in Thailand for 4 weeks but wont be telling the relatives about all of it. This trip has been great but the relatives really came out of the woodwork. Its not about the money (dinner for 8 = 1200b). Its just night after night of entertaining...

During our next trip we will be real estate shopping. We are interested in buying a home in the south sometime in 2015. Our plan is to semi-retire in south Thailand in 10 years from now and for me to still work "virtually" over the net for another 10. I will be able to work for 50% of my salary and still be fine (US Income versus Thai living expenses). We want to get a newer 4 bedroom home so all my friends and relatives can come visit. They get a great vacation for airfare only... :) Anyway thats our plan...

Can you guys tell I'm missing American conversation??? :)

Hmm... Tell her I say hello :P

(I'm sure I'll get a full report soon enough)

When I was there from Nov to Feb, everywhere was dead. The place was so quiet compared to what it has been, and that was suppose to be high season. I can only imagine how much worse it is getting going into the non-tourist season.
