Hello all,

Has anyone here in thailand had to get a Malaysian police certificate (good conduct)? Did you or your fiancé(e) have to wait a long time to get it? Any advice?

I have not had to get one. But this is what the Department of State web site says one to two months. I will give you the link and copy what the information says.

Link:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciprocity/reciprocity_3615.html

"Police Records

Available. Both Malaysians and non-Malaysians who have resided in Malaysia for a period of more than one year may apply for a Malaysian certificate of good conduct.

Applicants residing in Malaysia should submit their applications to:

Consular Division

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia

Wisma Putra

No. 1 Jalan Wisma Putra

Precinct 2

62602 Putrajaya

Selangor

Tel: 6-03-8887-4000

Applicants residing outside Malaysia should contact the nearest Malaysian embassy or consulate in their country of current residence. The application form for the Malaysian Certificate of Good Conduct, as well as the addresses and telephone numbers of Malaysian Missions abroad are available the the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs web site at www.klm.gov.my.

Applications for the Certificate of Good Conduct must be accompanied with the following documents:

* 2 Malaysian passport size photographs (40cm x 55cm);

* 2 copies of the applicant's Malaysian identification card;

* 2 copies of the applicant's passport (for non-Malaysians, copies of all passport pages);

* A self-addressed stamped envelope;

* An introduction letter from the employer (for non-Malaysians).

Processing fee of Malaysian ringgit 20.00 in cash or Malaysian postal order made under the name of Akauntan Negara Malaysia.

Processing time for the certificate is one to two months from the date of submission. The certificate of good conduct will be forwarded to the applicant using their self-addressed stamped envelope. The certificate may also be collected by the applicant at the consular division counter. "

Question to you veterans:

Should I wait until the Embassy sends my fiancee the packet 3 or can she send the completed packet 3 once I see that DHL has sent the petition to the embassy? I already know our BNK case number and have completed all the required documents for the packet 3. Did anyone else do this?

Thanks

Oh, congratulations. Foreign language is against the Terms of Service or I would write "Chok dee." Since it is against TOS I will not write "Chok dee!!!"

I am sorry, I did not see your other post until now. Yes, I am planning to go back for Audy's interview. But we are delaying the interview even though we were approved March 26 and have had Packet 3 for some time. Audy needs to finish up at her job which will be about November. So we are trying to set the interview for August.

You and husband will not need Luck. I am sure you are well prepared and organized.

Take care

Rob

Thank you.

I understand about wanting to wait. November will be a nice time for her to come over, too. A nice change.

Generally DHL delivers in 3 business days. You can email the consulate and ask them if they have it yet. Usually takes them at least a day

to process it and show in their computer system. If you know for sure it's in BKK you can send in P3 documents but always send EMS with a

tracking number so you can be assured they are delivered.

Well I got more bad news today - after waiting the entire five months for them to approve my November petition - I emailed then called the NVC to find out the status of my application and I now have a BKK # but it is in "administrative review". I did a search on this and got a wide variety of results but basically I am led to believe that this means my application has been selected to undergo additional manual security checks which could take three weeks to two months?!?!? After I read about Administrative Review I called the NVC back to confirm that I'd been pulled for security screening and the lady basically confirmed it.

I am obviously very upset but I'm hoping someone here can clarify for me since my searches yielded conflicting results. At least one thread said that they could still possibly mail the petition to the embassy, my fiancée could get packet 3, finish her interview, and then she would have to wait for the security checks to clear? This doesn't make any sense. Any help is appreciated.

This has happened to a few Thai petitioners. One example is Scandal. You can see his time line here:

http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=51846

Looks like he was in AP for 7 weeks. Not sure what triggers this, but it seems pretty random.

Honestly, from what I have seen people post here, if it is only two months you will be lucky. Some people have taken much, much longer. If you go about 5-6 pages back you will see a report about one that took seven.

Pornnaphat passed her medical exam on Saturday. Total cost was around 5000 Baht. She said the medical forms that I sent her from the embassy website were outdated. They charged her 200 baht for the new forms. I sent her everything else she needs for the package 3 and hopefully it will arrive on Thursday. Today is Thai Holiday. We will send the completed packet 3 on Friday. Crossing our fingers that we will get a fast interview date. Just thought you would like to know whats going on.

Rob - Only caution would be the validity period of the 129f. They are valid for four months from approval date, but can be revalidated by a consular officer (and routinely are).

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2994.html

The K1 visa is valid for six months, so an interview (and visa issuance) anytime after June would allow her to travel to the USA late this year.

Thanks. I knew about the expiration date on the NOA2 for the I-129F. I will email the Embassy and ask them to extend it. I know they will. It is difficult to balance everything because I want to go to Thailand about a week before she interviews so a mid-August interview would be best for me. I want to help Audy prepare and I want to be there even if I am locked out of the Embassy for moral support.

She wants it earlier in case there is a 221(g) problem. I don't even want to think that way.

Thanks

We had the dreaded 221g. I am actually glad I didn't book a trip there for the interview as I was able to solve half of the 221g issues (IRS) here in the US before I went over. It all worked out in the end, but was a major pain.

I went back and found one individual who had his petition get "lost" between the USCIS and the NVC - the NVC claimed they did not receive it for a long time - once they "found" it things moved along. From what I'm seeing the vast majority of those under admin review are 4-8 weeks with some getting moved in as little as two or three weeks so despite your cheerfulness I'll try to stay optimistic :D

Congrats!!!!!!!!!! Hope it goes better than ours did!!! HAHAHA. Seems they are getting busy now as Teaw says the girls are getting interviews about a month away from getting the P3 packet back to the embassy.

Tom -

I was following your case for awhile and yours went into admin review AFTER it got to the embassy and after the interview correct? If I recall correctly it was eventually denied? If you don't mind me asking, what are your plans now? Are you going to try to apply again or marry her in Thailand and try for a K3 Visa? I empathize with your plight - I am now having to consider the grim possibility that the enigmatic power that is our government can ruin people's lives without reason and have to consider my alternatives if my current petition is denied. Did they ever even give you a specific reason for the denial?

I don't think Tom and Teaw have been denied. I think they are still in AP which happens at the Embassy after the interview. Not at the NVC like with ArizonaMike. I certainly hope it was not denied, I am still pulling for Tom and Teaw but it could be a few months.

Good luck all.
