Are you suggesting finding one in Bangkok then or here in the USA? I would think having one there would be better.

Yeah, in Bangkok would make things easier, but there are a lot of fly-by-night operations there. Be sure to get multiple references. One that has both Thai and US offices may be useful.

We had used Siam-Legal for our K1 (hired them before I found this site), they were professional. They had a couple of US attorneys working there, which was useful when I had questions.

Thanks. How was the cost?

I found them reasonable. I would suggest contacting them to get a price for your situation. I had paid for the entire K1 package.

They aren't going to have a flat rate for this kind of situation... it's going to be hourly billing.

On an entirely different subject, for anyone that has recently gone through Bangkok's US Embassy for I-129F and K-1. When the NVC has forwarded the petition to Bangkok:

1) how does Bangkok contact the alien fiance(e), email, telephone, snail mail ?

NVC asked me for her email address.

2) I believe the US Embassy has recently received our package based on information I used from the NVC forum to track packages with DHL. How long after NVC ships and Embassy receives, before the Embassy makes contact with alien fiance(e) by whatever method ???

Thanks

My wife was never contacted at all. She talked with someone at the embassy and they told her. We also never received packet 3 from the embassy. Fortunately we already knew what to do and started processing everything about 5 days after the NVC sent the package.

So in this case, should I ask my fiancee to contact the BKK Embassy after the Songkran holiday? She should request confirmation that the Embassy has received our package. Should she request that the Embassy send out a Packet 3 by email or postal mail or is the one on-line good enough to use that?

Thanks

  1. You or her can contact them by email. Don't even bother trying to call them.
  2. They will send it however they choose to, but don't expect to receive it if they send it via post. They may say you can simply download the forms from their website and fill them out. Don't do this until they have told you it is ok.

Audy_Rob,

Same deal for us (back in early 2007 - things may be much different today). Rin never received the P3. We had the P3 ready to go (from the online forms/instructions) once the NOA2 was approved. Once I was reasonably sure the embassy had our package from NVC, we mailed in the required checklist and forms to the embassy. Sent them an e-mail a week after that and they replied with her interview date. The P4 actually showed up after her interview date.

@rsn and @rin and john, Thanks for replies and information.

It does not seem helpful if Packet 4 shows up after the interview date.

The email address was once given by "daboyz" I think. Does anyone know what email address to use. He added a 2 in it... something like "bkkvisa2"?

I would rather contact them than my fiancee. She is overwhelmed by the process.

Edited to Add: Happy Songkran to ALL.

Either of the email addresses listed in the guide here will work. I would use both. Sometimes they respond to one and not the other. Neither one is more reliable than the other based on my experience, but they did respond to about 75% of my emails.
