I have a contact who has attempted to pay the NIV fee at three Thai Post Offices with no success. They look at him like he's crazy. Anybody know the trick?

You need to pay at one of the post offices listed on the NIV checklist. Did he attempt to pay at one of those?

K1: 01/15/2009 (mailed I-129F) - 06/23/2009 (visa received)

AOS: 08/08/2009 (mailed I-485, I-765, & I-131) - 10/29/2009 (received GC)

The checklist he downloaded just says "any Thai Post Office".

The Bangkok Embasy website says:

"The fee can be paid at one of 248 designated post offices nationwide. You cannot pay the visa application fee at the Consular Section. Save your fee receipt and bring it with you on the day of your interview."

Unfortunately, I can't find a list of those 248 offices. I would suggest one in Bangkok, near the Police Station or the U.S. Consulate. My wife asked a motorcycle "taxi" to take her to a post office after going to the Police Station for her Police Report.

Thanks guys... just got the call.. APPROVED!:dance::dance:

She has to come back to get the visa on 11/16! Thanks for the support! She said it was just 2 questions, how did we meet and 1 other I didn't catch. She did the interview in English.

Congratulations DaveTX! Always enjoy hearing of others being successful with the K1 from Thailand.

Good luck for your future (the rest of the process, though sometimes still daunting, does seem a bit less stressful, in my opinion)

Blessings, Mark

Thanks! Being together should make it far less stressful. Doing the AoS and stuff here seems like less can go randomly wrong than all the pieces in Thailand!

She didn't believe me that she'd be a wreck after the flight to LAX and the red-eye to Boston but she does now...

We had to wait for out hotel so we went and had breakfast. No Asian breakfast food at this hotel so she orders a la carte and the waitress suggests getting an American breakfast and we split it since I wanted the things she didn't and I know it's going to be too much food. It shows up a few minutes later and her she looks at it a minute and says "Now I see why Americans fat"!

Let me ask a question.

Did anyone here pay sin sot?

Get this- my future mother in law, whom I love and have a great relationship with, is making me pay 200k. BUT.. to keep up "appearances", shes putting 1mil baht out on display! Hahaha.. you gotta love Bangkokians.

I'm assuming we have a 85% shot at getting all the cash back after the ceremony.

But i'm wondering, is anyone else going through this?
