Back in the U.S. with the wife. POE was easy for her. They gave me a hard time about walking around with 2 passports, and took one of them. I'm kinda wondering what happens now with getting the green card? Does it just come in the mail?

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

Welcome home! And a big 'Welcome to the USA!' for your wife.

I don't know what the IR1/CR1 process is like, but there's plenty of info on VJ so I'm sure you'll be able to figure it out.

Since you have been married for over 2 years, your wife should have received an I-551 stamp in her passport, which gives her permanent residency. Be sure to verify the expiration date, and that it is NOT a temporary I-551!

They will mail her GC to your home address.

Congratulations on your safe arrival home, and welcome to the US to your wife!:thumbs::thumbs:

You have nothing to do now for 3 years, at which time your wife can apply for Naturalization, if she so desires. You may have gone through a lot of ####### to get here, but at least now you don't have to deal with the USCIS like the rest of us! ;)

I did not believe that any documents in Thai needed to be translated for the US Consulate. I thought they would accept all Thai and English documents. No?

I tend to agree with you, unless of course things have changed. There is no need for that document in the AOS process, so no need for an English translation. The Consulate staff can read the document and verify its authenticity.

Was your packet 3 different than what the embassy has posted online?

http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/k_visa_packet3.pdf

There instructions indicate any document not in English or Thai requires a certified english translation. Perhaps what they send and what they have on the website are different. Two years ago, documents in Thai were acceptable at the embassy.

Has anyone tried submitting digital information to the Consulate? We have well over 600 chat logs from over the years as well as dozens of photographs, all of which originate as digital files. I have printed several chats and photos for my fiancée, however I am sending her everything on a CD. I am wondering if they want to see more evidence if she would be able to hand them the CD and have them inspect the contents of it.

I've read somewhere that CD's were not acceptable. Best to print out the info.

afisher, you read correctly. The consulate will not accept any digital media due to threats from viruses, malware, and other nasty code.

ThaitoUSA, you will need to print everything out. To minimize, just take samplings from different periods of time, to show a range of time, not every single chat, and a dozen photos is more than enough, especially if they are in different areas or places.

I have already done that; printed out a couple dozen emails and chats representative of the past five years. I may direct her to print out a few more, so if they ask, they'll be ready in hand.

Thanks for the advice.

PS I only ask because some recent members have said things such as "I am told it is best to have 50+ photos." "We were asked to return with evidence of ongoing relationship" (after having already submitted as much as, if not more than what I have prepared).

Seems like the information coming out of the embassy is all over the place. MY SO and I were both on our laptops researching the "never married form" and she was freaking out reading about all the denials on her Thai visa forum website. One of the posts was from a girl waiting a specific day in February for her interview. She detailed out the reasons why 10 out of 10 interviews scheduled for that were rejected. The reject reasons were for I-134 income issues, the SO getting caught in some sort of lie or lack of proof. I can get the link to the post and sent it over if you guys want to share with your SO.

Point well made and taken to heart. We've prepared as best as we could. If we can do anything more, we shall, but otherwise there is no point in worrying.
