Just got our interview letter and had something strange happen.

I sent several e-mails to the Embassy about my financial situation and never had a response.

I crossed my fingers and sent the packet 3 anyway. However when we got the e-mail with our appointment time, I was CC'd on it as well, even though we had only put my fiance's e-mail on the DS-2001.

Do you think this means that they were looking for my packet 3 and already have her 221g waiting for her?

I'm trying really hard to get my financials straightened out, and have actually picked up a contract job for 25 hours a week that puts me over the income requirements. However I'm still worried that I don't have enough paperwork to prove all of this, or that they will throw a wrench in the works some other way.

Has anyone gotten a 221 g for income lately? Or been able to use an I-864? Or been able to convert to a CR-1?

Thanks for the support, hope your interviews are going well.

Dan

DS-2001? I don't recall ever filling out such a form when going through the K1 process. Why did you fill this out?

It's the form that gets turned in with pack 3, it comes with the checklist. It basically just lists local contact information and an e-mail address for the beneficiary. Like I said, my fiance did not write my e-mail address on the form only hers. But I got the interview e-mail directly from the embassy. Not sure what that's all about.

I might be paranoid, but I suspect that people at the embassy probably read visajourney and even this thread.

If that's the case, I'd just like to let them know that at a time when all of my friends are unemployed, I'm working my butt off to try and build a life for my fiance and I, a little help would be great.

If you think that they have been reading your posts on VJ, then you are definitely paranoid. There are more plausible explanations that explain how they have your email address:

  1. From the emails you already sent them!
  2. I'm sure you listed your email address on at least one form at this point, likely more. I know my email address was in several places.

Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't prove that they aren't really after me.

The thing is that if somebody took the time to collate all my stuff together and actually find my e-mail address and e-mail me the info too, that means we are dealing with someone who is actually.... competent.

I'm not sure if that makes me feel relieved or nervous.

To be fair, cc'ing me on the interview was quite friendly as well. Maybe I should attach a thank you note to my fiance's packet 4.

I honestly wish I could stop thinking about this stuff so much, but I gotta admit, even the smallest details of this visa thing keep me up at night.

Guess Bangkok changed things again. This is a relatively new form for BKK, at least for K1s (no knowledge of K3s & CR1s)

Eh, you could be right. It's entirely possible that I forgot about that form entirely for some reason. Perhaps I should put the pipe down too!

I'm starting to think people need to put down the pipe.

Then why did you give it to me in the first place?

If I worked at the Consulate, I would read this website, and particularly this thread. I might even be tempted to give advice from time to time, as it would make my job smoother. After all, these guys have to put up with a lot of #######... a chance to lessen that would be welcomed.

These Visa's are a very very small percentage of the Visa's they process at the embassy. These guys don't have to put up with any #######. They can just deny your visa and boot you out of the embassy. There is no reason to make this process smooth, it is up to the individual that is filing to make their trip to the embassy smooth. Gather all the necessary paperwork, read all the guides, and then double and triple check your paperwork. That is about as smooth as it is going to get.

I know that Chutima is excited, but for me, it means waiting for yet another letter from USCIS! :( I am SOOOOOOOOO ready to be done with the USCIS!
