All quite here... Almost too quite.

Well, I got a quick question. After looking at the last few couples timelines that have received and interview date lately, I have seen this trend. 10-14 days after packet three submission the interview date is received. The interview date has been roughly 30 days from the date of notification of interview. Is this a safe assumption, or are there some goofy numbers floating around out there from the last two months? Spill the knowledge if you've got it.

Just trying to forecast my holiday time around Nan's possible interview date. I hope to be there for it and then at least a week after just in case. Any words of wisdom are appreciated.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

Cheers,

Neil

My Fiance finally got her visa, it was really seeming like it might not happen for a bit. I have never felt more stress, sadness and anger than I have the past few weeks. We had a problem intially because I was once married to a Thai and got divorced at the Thai consulate in LA. This is very problematic because it's only recognized in Thailand. Thus I had to find her and divorce her at the Amphur in Thailand when my Fiance and I decided to get married. I had a lawyer and he was very helpful with this.

The second problem is my Fiance is Laotian, but we both reside in Thailand. We are relocating to the USA next week. She had to have a number of additional stamps and guarantees from various Lao agencies in and outside of Thailand that Thai's do not. This was a little surprising to me and my lawyer. We learned this via a 221(g) If you think Thailand is disorganized it's nothing compared to Laos. It was a real nightmare to gather all the needed signatures and stamps. In fact the guy at the Laos embassy in Thailand flat out refused to help us and forced us to go to Vientiane Laos for something he could have easily done for us in 30 seconds. During the last week I had to fly my Fiance to Laos and back twice. Also getting anything done at the various agencies in Laos is an exercise in luck and madness. It was also never entirely clear exactly what stamps we needed as the 221(g) was very vague so we basically took our best guess which of the dozens of government agencies might be able to provide us with the proof we needed. Since getting the 221(g) my life has very much felt like the Kafka book The Trial. If you haven't read it check it out, you'll relate to some of the strange bureaucratic steps involved in getting a visa to what he had to do in the book to get through his 'trial'.

I am very very relieved we made it this far, now I just hope there are no problems getting married and we can simply begin our life living together in the USA.

Congrats! Great Job!!!

Best Wishes and Good Luck to you both on the US side.

(BTW, I really admire your persistence on duking it out on those crazy 221g issues...I know how it feels)

Hi guys. Well things have been a little different last few days. I sent On some links to look at about the visa process and now she's totally into it.

I think one link from here or siam legal about the process, and all the questions that she might get asked at the embassy. One of the links was in Thai so even though her English is quite good, the Thai helped her a lot more (maybe from thai4visa?) anyway, I'm so glad she's understanding what I've been trying to tell her.

She's already wondering about the medical and police report and all the other stuff she'll have to do.

Meanwhile we're still waiting for NOA2 :( ... soon, soon (see my sig.)

This is so great. Once she gets it in her mind to do something, she doesnt give up. Part of why I love her.

I'm tired of waiting...I even re-upped my WoW subscription just to pass the time. argh.

Based on timeline data, your I129f may be adjudicated between August 7, 2009 and August 22, 2009.

LOL. I have my frustrations with Laos but BeerLao makes up for about 75% of them.

This is not a safe assumption. Interviews have been known to happen a week or even sooner after notification in some cases. Our interview was only a couple weeks after we were notified, and others happened even sooner after notification around the same time. Don't make any non-refundable plans if you want to be with your SO during the time of the interview until you actually know the date.

Also, there is no telling how long you will wait for an interview date after packet 3 submission. Some people have waited months, others weeks.

Not yet. I would like to know this as well...

How many Nan's do we have in this thread?

I haven't thought about how to get Thai food (because she isn't in NY yet)

but I'm lucky to have sriracha sauce at the cafeteria where I work.

If often put it on anything I get - ham & eggs, chiken, shrunken heads... :innocent:

It's a staple there and very popular.

They go through about a half dozen bottles a day.
