Congrats everyone on recent approvals and upcoming POE arrivals. We went through the airport in Korea btw. It's a pretty decent airport & has free wifi.

Hey rsn, you went through Seoul? They had free wifi? I just passed through there not even 3 weeks ago and they didn't have it... Might have to get a flight back through there. Free is for me! Haha I am hoping Nan gets her interview in late Aug, early Sept. Should be responding to packet three end of next week.

Congrats to all those with recent approvals, I hope it keeps up.

Neil

It was actually in Incheon, which is really close to Seoul. Free wifi, yep. I was sitting at a Korean Air gate and (I forget the SSID) but there was one that stood out. When I connected to it, it made me agree to something which I of course did not read and then tossed me to a page that welcomed me to the free airport wifi connection.

2 4th of July arrivals (well one on the 3rd, but close enough)? Nice! Hope everyone is relaxing and enjoying their new lives. Kat and I have been in Chicago for the past several days visiting family, seeing fireworks, and hitting various Asian grocery stores. Back to Madison for us now. Good luck to all those w/ upcoming interviews and arrivals. Keep us posted!

ALL QUIET ON THE FAR EASTERN Front??

I am very happy for everyone who has gotten a VISA or even better yet, their fiancee here in the U.S. Awesome!!!

Ok... NEXT? We have our interview on this friday and I am really getting antsy! I know someone else has interview same day and time ( 8:00 am) but I also thought someone had one tomorrow?

C'mon I need some company here so I don't bug my fiancee with my "suggestions" on how to put together the evidence. She really does not need my help with it, BUT I CAN'T STAND THE WAITING :-)

Who else is coming up?

Gene & Nan

My Fiance was issued a 221 (g) She is Laos and we had a proof of being unwed document from Laos. It turns out we need one from Thailand too. That should easy enough to fix. There were no other issues.

There was a lot that could have gone wrong. I was married and divorced to a Thai person before. My Fiance is Laos, living in Thailand and I was working remotely over the internet. I am pleased this is the only issue they had.

Just a quick update before we head up to Philly to visit family.

Nern got in just before noon on Friday, July 3rd. Immigration only took about 5 minutes; they asked her about 4 questions such as "How did you meet?" "When did you last see him?" "When do you plan to get married?" She says they did not fingerprint her. Customs was more interested in the dog food she brought than her dog and didn't even remove the dog from the carrier for an inspection.

We went to a friend's party that evening and got to see the town's fireworks display. The next evening of the 4th we saw the big show from a friend's house that overlooks the Antietam battlefield. And on Sunday we went to another friend's for a wiffleball tournament / band jam. I was up playing, trying to show off a bit but she was too busy having fun playing wiffleball for the first time. All in all it's been a great transition and she's almost over jetlag already.

Just as a side note, we tried to get a Social Security number yesterday, four days after entry, only to be told that she is not yet been entered into that system that ICE uses. The lady offered to do the manual check, which could take six weeks +, but we declined and agreed it would be faster to return a couple of weeks later instead. I believe Gary of Gary and Alla has been telling the entire community that people's names should be entered the day they arrive at midnight and if not that night, then within a day or so. Clearly this is not the case as others have reported the same story.

Take care all.

Not sure if it's different for K visas, but my wife's just showed up in the mail 2 weeks after POE. We didn't have to go to any SS office.

Done for 3 years or 10 years. Haven't decided yet.

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!
