What to submit to VFS- K-3 looking for switch to CR-1

Hi Everyone,

I am hoping to help clear things up for everybody on what needs to be submitted to VFS for people looking to make a switch to CR-1 visa from K-3 interview.

My wife has a K-3 interview scheduled for end of Feb. We are looking to make a switch to CR-1 if the files arrives prior to the K-3 interview.

If we know that NVC has scheduled the interview and sent the file, wife will appear at VFS to submit documents and fees. At that point Consulate or VFS may not know that the CR-1 file is on the way. How does one know what to submit to VFS, as there are different things to be submitted for K-3 and CR-1?

For example, we'll need originals of birth certificate, etc for K-3 but since the originals are in the CR-1 file what could I explain to them for not having the originals on the day she goes to VFS?

Any advice here is appreciated. Any one who's had the experience of getting a CR-1 issued on the day of a K-3 interview is highly appreciated.
