Good Morning Everyone,

I have heard about harassment at the airport from the airport security staff.

Mostly from those who travel alone but not if they are with someone. Like me for example... :)

Does anyone have any stories they are willing to share?

Thanks!!

Phil

Yea, they tried to take my Red Stapler.

Said I could try to hit someone on the head with it.

I told the airport guy to go get a PNP officer.

I explained I brought it from USA, and it was going home with me. I figured the airport checker was gonna keep it after he took it from me.

What kind of harassment? Hmmmmmm.... Just in case, I'm gonna get the name of that airport security staff. I will ask to call their officer, to explain to me what they are doing. Or else, I'm gonna call some of my friends working in media to get it investigate. Hahaha... that's what I'm thinking.

I am not sure if what I went through at the airport can be considered harrassment by the airport employees. There was a problem with my electronic ticket because my husband tried to hide his credit card number by shading that part in my photocopy of his credit card which is a requirement if you are using e-ticket together with a photocopy of his passport. The girl at the counter won't give me a boarding pass and she told me that they will not let me board the plane unless I have a photocopy of my husband's credit card with the account number clearly shown. It was an honest mistake from my husband since he was only trying to protect his credit card identity. But Philippine Airlines won't buy that excuse.

So I had to call him in the middle of the night and asked him to fax another copy of his credit card. He sent one of his billing statements instead. Alls well that ends well. But I won't forget that horrible experience at the PAL Terminal II. They finally let me board the plane after two hours waiting at the lobby and after overcharging me 100 pesos for my travel tax and finally, after bribing some airport employees in exchange for letting me use their phone and fax machine.

My husband called the Philippine Airlines to see if I was able to board the plane and they wouldn't tell him. So he showed up in San Francisco International Airport not knowing if I got on the plane or not. It took me two hours to get through the Customs and so, I'm glad he waited.

He even sent email addressed to PAL customer relations. They told him they will investigate, but never said anything more.

Rocky

P.S.

My husband got a letter from the credit card company a month later saying someone tried to make an unauthorized foreign transaction using his credit card and they issued him a new card.

Hokey Smoke!

Rocky: "Baby, are they still mad at us on VJ?"

Bullwinkle: "No, they are just confused."

in my case everything went so ok.. i was all alone and first time to travel abroad...my husband bought the ticket in usa and the travel agent just emailed the itinerary to me...the day before my flight i went to pal main office to confirm my flight and they gave me pal itinerary so at the airport i didnt have any problem or something like that..

and i didnt bring anything that i think staff at the airport wont allow...thats why it was so easy for me..no harrasment at all even at the custom... i even wonder if i was doing the right thing coz ive been reading here in the forum that people at the airport are this and that but they were nice... maybe it depends on how careless you can be or how not nice you act also..hehehehhehehe.

i guess it depends on the person who is travelling. hehehhehehe.

I dont think it is an harrashment... i understand employees are just doing their job well. They have rules and policy to be followed being an employees , It is for our own good and safe boarding. Dont worry, as long as you know your rights and privilige , you can complain if you are being harrash. Im sure , nobody in the airport employees would like to lost their job.

I had some lady working at the airport try to take my one quart bag of 3oz or less liquid items. I was standing next to the sign informing all US bound flights must have liquid items in a one quart bag etc., but she did not care about what the sign said. I put my bag into my check on luggage.

No I didn't encounter anything remotely close to harassment from anyone. Although I could not find out why they were selling phone cards you couldn't use. After 200 pesos I gave up on the idea of using the phone. Do machines count as being harassing?

hi, I traveled alone and I didn't have any single problem at all airports I've stopped. I even printed my boarding pass myself the night before my flights and I didn't have a problem about that. Hope you'll have no problem too... Have a safe and happy trip...

To all of you who had a bad experienced at the Manila Int'l. Airport I suggetst that you can email to an editor/writer to some Philippines New Agency ( www.philstar.com or other online Philippines news agency) this way they can publish or brought it to the attention whoever in the highest position at the Manila airport to investigate any anomaly of their employees. So far, my husband and I don't have any bad experience at the Manila airport.

Phil.

One Question?

Does your fiance know she gonna have to live in Iowa?

Do you have indoor plumbing up there yet?

What about Cable TV?

Not sure if you would call it harrassment but I had a toy gun for my son in my checked luggage and they said it is not allowed. A year earlier I had a toy gun in my checked luggage and had no problem.
