Hello.

I am really confused about this poverty guidelines thing.

I will be the main sponsor for my husband however, i am currently living with him in Pakistan, thus i have no income to show.

My father with be the co-sponsor. Per the poverty guideline he should be earning USD 26,500 to be 125% above poverty level as there will be my parents and us as a couple in the household showing a total of 4 people.

Now i also read somewhere that the income of a co-sponsor will only be counted as 1/10th towards the immigrant.

In the instructions for I-864 it says that primary sponsors income will count 1/3rd of the difference towards beneficiary and co-sponsors will be 1/5th.

So now if my father makes USD42,000 would that mean 42,000 minus 26,500 and then the difference or how the hell does it work???

PLS HELP!

Is this in the consulate discussion because the answer is dependant upon the consulate? Sorry, L179, I'm just as lost as you are and looking for some answers!
