Advice needed from Canadians who got their Green cards

Hi everybody,

I am new to this forum and looking for some honest advice. I am physician and currently working on H1B in NY. I will be soon starting a fellowship hence cannot pursue GC on my own. I just got married and my wife is also a Canadian born citizen. She is currently looking for a H1 sponsoring job as she was denied a TN visa because her job title is not mentioned in the original NAFTA list. The problem is that she is unable to find a H1 sponsoring job close to where my training is. Now she is forced to look for a job in other states in US.

My question is how much time does it take for a Canadian to get a GC after filing for Labor Certification. It is important because we have to actually live apart for at least that long.

We are in a difficult situation and I will appreciate your help, input or suggestions.

I'm assuming any green card either of you were to get would be employer sponsored?

Check out the processing times on the USCIS website.

I have a friend who came to the US on an employment visa, and is being sponsored by his employer for a green card. So far its taken about 5 years, and he's not had his interview yet.
