The Affadavit of support gets sent to the beneficiary as part of the Packet 3, as the beneficiary is supposed to submit those documents to the emabassy/consulate. However you are correct, that you need to fill it out. Simply download the form from USCIS and/or Department of State, fill it out, and send the appropriate documentation to your spouse. Good Luck!!

Just to clarify, Remember the Packet 3 is a checklist that indicates you have all of the documents ready to be submitted. Once the embassy/consulate receives your packet 3 they will schedule the interview, and then you will be asked to submit the forms such as the Affadavit of Support, etc. Check your specific embassy/consulate website for specific instructions.

VSC Approves & Send It TO EMBASSY CARACAS

The format to use is "EXP 07 OCT 2008A" don't forget the spaces...and to set the date range on the tracking page. The website for tracking is. http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef The package may not go out on the next day, but the reference code will still be for that date. When your package is able to be tracked, it will make more sense. You'll see a list of packages going to different embassies. You'll know which one is yours.

Embassy receives the package.

If your spouse hasn't had their medical, now is the time.

Spouse interviews, turns in medical, hands in passport.

Passport is returned.

DO NOT OPEN MEDICAL OR ANY PAPERWORK FROM EMBASSY AFTER DONE THEY ARE TO BE OPENED AT PORT OF ENTERY!!!!

I-129-F At VSC:

VSC gives I-129-F Case number

I129F is immediately sent to the respective consulate after assigning a case #

If you were also approved to apply for a K-3 visa (otherwise skip).

If (again big IF) you had simultaneously petitioned to apply for a K-3 visa (by sending in an I-129f) then you may be able to allow that process to continue in order to get an interview date at the consulate before your case is approved at NVC. This requires luck and timing.

USCIS will send your approved I-129f to NVC.

NVC will "touch" the I-129f long enough to give it a case number and pass it on to the embassy.

NVC Mailed K-3 to Caracas Embassy

K-3 Reached Embassy

The embassy will notify the beneficiary of the next steps, and give them the case number assigned by NVC.

VSC Sends Package to EMBASSY

Embassy Sends Packet 3:

The embassy will tell the beneficiary how and where to setup the medical exam.

The beneficiary can then send in another copy of the DS-230 (just the signed pt.1, no other documents).

The beneficiary can schedule a medical exam.

The beneficiary can request an interview date, far enough in advance that their CR-1/IR-1 Visa case will be completed at NVC.

Once NVC completes the case, the beneficiary should NOT contact the embassy/consulate to request that they change the already scheduled K-3 interview for a CR-1/IR-1.

Instead, contact a supervisor at NVC, and request that your completed package be expeditiously sent to the embassy/consulate. This strategy is not guaranteed, It will vary by embassy.

Technically, if you have a CR-1/IR-1 that's ready, the embassy/consulate can not issue or schedule you for a K-3. They also can not schedule a CR-1/IR-1 interview...only NVC can.

Well our update as of today. I just called the NVC and they received I-864 and DS-230 on the 20th and it entered their system on the 23rd. Today the operator told me my I-864 was accepted as is and was fine and the DS-230 package is being reviewed so hopefully by the end of the week we will get our case complete. Keeping our fingers crossed. April interview is looking more and more like a possibility.

Hi all,

we are really frustrated...Finally we got an RFE on DS 230 in AVR ... which says Missing/incomplete DS 230 after reviewing... I am almost crying...don't know what to do...No operators could tell us about the detail on the RFE as they are saying they are still reviewing our DS 230.... One of the operator also mentioned to disregard the RFE if we have already sent DS 230...then why is this RFE for?

Please need help guys, we called NVC several times....Good thing is they have already accepted our AOS packet...

Thank you.

Sonia
