I just got a phone call from a company which I didn't apply for but this company saw my resume online. They're hiring a lab technician and wants to conduct an interview with me next week. I don't have an approval for my EAD yet but my green card interview is on Feb 11....what should I do? If I get hired for this job....they wanted me to start working right away. This is a 3 months contract.

Do I need to go to the interview? Should I let them know that I'm still waiting for my EAD approval and soon hopefully I'll get my green card and apply for SSN? Is it OK if I'm going to tell them that I'm going to work for them but not paying me until I get a SSN?

I'm worried because my interview is coming so soon....and this will raise a red flag! Thanks

"Have faith in God, Jesus answered. I'll tell you the truth. if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself to the sea, and that does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen. it will be done for him. Therefore I'll tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours" (MARK 11:22-24)

they can't legally hire you until you can demonstrate work authorization.... you will need to get them to delay a little bit

YMMV

Moving this to Work/Travel prior to green-card.

You can interview, but will need to explain that you do not have EAD or green-card yet, the employer will need to verify your status for the I-9 that they need to fill out.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Go to your interview and tell this "I am anticipating receiving work authorization in the month of ____________, and would be grateful if you could keep me in mind for any opening at that time or you want to meet him/her now to prepare for any upcoming positions". and you will inform them once that you got your EAD.

Goodluck!
